GLOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 651,701, dated June 12, 1900.
Application filed October 12, 1899. Serial No. 733,397. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY SINCLAIR DELA- MERE, of Ferndale, in the county of Humboldt and State of California, have invented anew and Improved Glove, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved glove more especially designed for securely retaining a dressing applied to a wound or other injury in position on the hand.
The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which the figure is a perspective view of the improvement.
The improved glove has a hand portion A, which terminates at one end in a wrist portion B, slit in the usual manner on the inside and having buttons or other fastening devices C for fastening the sidesof the slit together. as indicated in the drawing. The hand portion A terminates at the outer end in short openfinger portionsD and a thumb portion D, and
' on the outer edge of the hand portion is formed a slit E, extending from the wrist portion B conveniently applying the glove on the hand over a dressing arranged upon a wound or other injury without danger of giving pain to the wearer. When the glove is thus put in position, the hand portion is drawn sufficiently tight by drawing up the lacingF and tying the ends thereof into a bow, as shown in the drawing. By the arrangement described the dressing is securely held in position, and at the same time perfect freedom is had at the finger portions. The glove may also be worn by oarsmen, golfers, or in any work where protection to the hands may be needed.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A glove, comprising a slittedwrist portion with fastening devices for fastening the sides of the slit together, a hand portion, short openended finger portions with a slit extending from the outer end of the little-finger portion along the outer edge of the hand portion to the beginning of the said wrist portion, and a lacing on the said slitted edge for connecting the outer and inner hand portions with each other along the slit, and to holda handdressin in place on the hand of the user. said wrist portion and its fastening devices serving to hold the glove in position on the hand to prevent accidental displacement of the glove and the hand-dressin g, substantially as shown and described.
