Description
本專利申請案是2007年3月27日申請的申請案序號第11/728,973號案的一部份延續申請案,且其主張2006年4月3日申請之美國專利臨時申請案序號第60/789,297號案在35 U.S.C§119(e)下的申請日利益。前述所有的申請案皆併入本文供參考。
本發明係有關於隔離封裝技術。
消費者常常購買現成產品,諸如容器中的食品及飲料。絕熱容器可被設計成供熱飲或冷飲,諸如熱咖啡、冰茶或比薩之用。此等容器可藉由減少熱或冷從液體或食物內容物傳遞到消費者的手來維持內容物的溫度。
一封裝、容器或容器套筒包括一側壁、該側壁具有一內表面及一外表面。該側壁的內表面或外表面至少其一可包括一層隔離材料。
本發明之其他系統、方法、特徵及優勢在考察以下圖式及詳細說明下將對於該技藝中具有通常知識者將是明顯的。所有此等被包括在本說明中的附加系統、方法、特徵及優勢皆意欲在本發明之範圍內,且受到下文申請專利範圍保護。

一封裝、容器,或容器套筒可由一隔離材料構成,及/或以該隔離材料隔離。該隔離材料可被固定至一容器或其可被施用至一可移除套筒。隔離材料,諸如可熱膨脹及/或含空隙材料可被施用於該容器或一外壁或兩者上。不可膨脹,或藉溫度以外途徑膨脹的隔離材料也可被使用,例如,壓感材料、光敏材料、微波敏感材料及其他等等。該隔離材料可在到達一使用者之前被膨脹,諸如當容器及/或容器套筒被製造時,及/或該隔離材料可僅在最終使用時且僅回應於例如溫度或壓力而被膨脹。該隔離材料可被用於輔助容器及/或容器套筒的隔離能力,及/或增加容器及/或容器套筒的剛性,諸如減少容器及/或容器套筒材料組件之厚度。
第1圖繪示一容器100,諸如一杯子,具有一內壁102及一外壁104。外壁104之坯料可以是一容器套筒或一容器100的一壁或主體的形式。該容器不限於一杯子,且可以是任一其他容器,包括但不限制於一散裝咖啡容器、一湯盆、壓型容器、盤、套筒(例如單面波紋、雙面波紋、無波紋、紙板等等)、摺疊紙盒、托盤、碗、蛤殼式容器,其有蓋或無蓋或套筒的其他容器。容器100可以是一圓柱狀杯或具有其他幾何結構,包括圓錐、矩形等等。外壁104坯料不限制於一具波紋模切坯料,且可以由紙板、紙、箔、膜、織物、發泡體、塑膠等等中的任一種類構成。外壁104可以由任一標稱紙料,包括但不限制於天然單面、白頂單面、塗層漂白頂單面、波紋、槽波紋或這些之任一組合製成。外壁104可從容器100移除,或外壁104可被粘附於容器100。外壁104可被黏合,例如藉由使用一熱熔、冷熔及/或任一其他黏合劑或焊接機構將外壁104坯料疊合至容器上。可供選擇地或附加地,外壁104坯料可以一隔離材料被粘附。如果外壁104在製造期間被附接於杯子,藉由排除一商業使用者的組裝步驟而增加效率。另外,其可減少商業使用者所需要的儲存空間量,例如儲存一物品而不是兩物品。
第1圖不一定按比例繪示。例如,外壁104可圖中繪示者覆蓋一更大或更的容器100表面部份。例如,外壁104可提供全體覆蓋。增加外壁104的表面積可提供一較大隔離區域及一較大印刷表面。雖然圖示繪示一杯子上的外壁104,外壁104可被添加至任何其他容器上,諸如但不限制於一散裝飲料容器、壓型容器,及湯盆。可供選擇地或附加地,外壁104可被添加至一容器套筒上。
第2圖是一容器100的一側剖視圖,其可以是一雙壁杯。容器100可在容器100的一外壁104及內容物206,諸如一熱或冷飲或食物之間提供一氣套200。氣套200可提供一由外表面溫度T0
量測時的隔熱。氣套200可部份或完全圍繞容器100。當容器100被抓住時,被施於外壁104上的一壓力可使外壁104在壓力點處塌縮,以縮減氣套200,且可能開始與容器100的一內壁102接觸。氣套200可在壓力點之下塌縮,且可提供一低剛性的感覺,且接觸可能在外壁104上產生熱點。
被施用於內壁102與外壁104之間的一隔離材料216可減少或消除此效應。如果一足量的隔離材料216被使用,隔離材料216可作用為提供剛性,而不損及氣套200對外壁104的隔熱,使得外壁104不致完全或部份塌縮。隔離材料216可增加容器100的機械強度。由於隔離材料216增加機械強度,輕量材料可被用以生產容器100,使得一形成容器100的基材來源可被減少。隔絕材料216可在內壁102、外壁104或兩者上以斑塊,諸如點,或另一圖案被施用,使得隔離材料216界定一氣套200,且防止外壁104在握持壓力下塌縮至內壁102上。隔離材料216也可對使用者提供一剛性感覺,同時容許一基材,例如內壁102或外壁104的減少。
隔離材料216當被活化時可膨脹,或可例如藉由空氣或惰性氣體內含物、原地氣隙、微球、可膨脹微球或其他起泡劑被預膨脹。隔離材料216可由例如溫度、壓力、水分或其他方式被活化。在一範例中,隔離材料216可由一熱或冷溫度活化。隔離材料216可以是一可膨脹隔離材料或黏合劑。附加地或可供選擇地,隔離材料216可包括但不限制於黏結劑、可膨脹微球或其他微膠囊化粒子、顏料及其他添加劑、黏合劑(例如,熱熔、壓感)、惰性氣體發泡熱熔膠,包含可熱膨脹微球的水性塗層、澱粉基黏合劑、天然聚合物黏合劑、PVC、發泡體塗層、生物可降解膠,或此等或其他材料的任一組合。隔離材料216可包括原地氣隙、微球、微粒子、纖維、可膨脹纖維、溶解粒子等等。隔離材料216可能是可生物降解的、可堆肥的,及/或可回收的。
隔離材料216可以是當濕潤或乾燥時可膨脹的。隔離材料216可包括任一合成或天然材料,包括水基的、溶劑基的、高固體,或100%固體材料。固體含量之量典型地是該材料的30%到80%,且較佳地為40%到70%。附加成份可被加入黏結劑及/或隔離材料216,包括但不限制於顏料或染料、填料/增量劑、供分散之用的表面活性劑、控制黏度以供最佳化應用的增稠劑或溶劑、起泡劑、消泡劑、添加劑如蠟或增滑劑等等。可供選擇地,黏結劑及/或隔離材料216可以是一黏合劑。隔離材料216可具有數個性質,包括但不限制於保持容器內容物熱或冷的隔熱性,凝結物及/或液體的吸收,及/或其與熱材料接觸(諸如,高於150℉)時可膨脹,且較佳地在一決定的設計活化溫度,諸如在大約室溫之前維持不活性。隔離材料216可以是可再漿化的,可回收的,及/或可生物降解的。

隔離材料216可被活化且因而藉由例如將內容物206,諸如熱液體、飲料或食物加入容器100而被膨脹。可供選擇地或附加地,容器100可被預先填充內容物206,諸如飲料或食物,且隔離材料216可在加熱時,諸如藉由微波或水浴加熱時被活化。活化僅可發生在消耗階段而不在外壁104的加工階段,使得外壁104可以一實質上不活化的隔離材料216被運送至消費者。例如,隔離材料216的活化點可在大約120℉,或更高,及/或小於60℉,使得隔離材料216僅可由熱(或冷)液體、飲料或食物活化,且不由周圍或身體溫度被活化。活化可引起可膨脹材料膨脹且使外壁104由容器100「向後推」,產生一增加的氣隙。該氣隙可在熱飲料容器100與消費者手之間產生一熱障。該活化也可加強容器的剛性及/或堅硬度,這可容許容器壁之材料及厚度的減少。如下文詳述,隔離材料216也可在到達消費者之前被活化,或至少被部份活化。因此,就封裝內容物206變得更熱時增加其隔離的意義而言,隔離材料216回應目標溫度的此一能力可使容器或套筒為「智慧型」。

一第二實驗說明容器套筒的使用。參考容器套筒是一N楞單面套筒。實驗容器套筒是一具有一隔離材料216內層,在此情況中是發泡體塗層的N楞單面套筒。一牛皮紙層被疊合在隔離材料216層上,且該材料被乾燥,但未被膨脹。隔離材料216被施以兩圖案:全覆蓋且線從套筒頂部延伸到底部。作一總結,有五個形式的容器套筒被測試:

包含發泡體塗層的杯子及套筒也具有較高的剛性,即使在一減少紙料下。圖案化發泡塗層甚至防止12pt外包覆層在握持期間塌縮入內壁中。這可容許使用較低基礎重量及卡尺紙板,同時維持良好的隔離。
第16圖是施用一微粒子塗層至基材上的示範性製程的方塊圖。該過程可包括將一微球或其他可膨脹塗層施用至一基材、模切坯料、容器、套筒、餐飲托盤、雙壁杯、壓型托盤、湯盆及襯袋紙盒容器中的任一個。該過程可包括在線1600及離線1610步驟。在線步驟1600可包括堆疊站1620,製造站1630及封裝站1640,被用於由紙或模切料製造容器。堆疊站、製造站及封裝站可以是完全自動化的及/或包括人工站。
塗層施用過程可在線1600或離線1610,在同一或另一設備進行。在線施用可包括在堆疊站1620、製造站1630及封裝站1640的一或一者以上施用隔離材料216。隔離材料216可以各種方法被施用,包括但不限制於刷子、海綿、印刷、一噴嘴、噴霧、一狹縫塗佈機,或藉由疊合至一塗層的擠製薄片而被施用。此等施用的任一者、或它們的各種組合可在線1600或離線1610進行,離線過程可在堆疊站1620之前進行。
以一或多刷的施用可藉由以壓力將隔離材料饋送通一管過到達該刷而發生。該刷可由不同材料,諸如馬鬃或合成材料製成。該刷可包括中空絲,使得隔離材料透過中空絲被施用。刷可施用隔離材料的一小塊樣式或圖案。到達刷的隔離材料量可被控制,使得施用於基材的隔離材料量可被計量。如一說明性而非限制性的範例,該量可被控制成使得一1/64th

Claims (12)
- 一種雙壁容器,包含:一內壁;一外壁,附接於該內壁,該內壁及該外壁在其間形成一氣隙;及含空隙之隔離材料,其包含一具有一發泡體結構的黏合劑,其中經發泡之該黏合劑係施用於該內壁與該外壁之間以至少黏合至該內壁;其中該含空隙之隔離材料具有經改良之隔熱性質,且具有剛性以避免該外壁在一握持壓力下塌縮至該內壁上。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之雙壁容器,其中經發泡之該黏合劑係藉由將一惰性氣體或空氣注入黏合劑、或藉由將一發泡劑(blowing agent)添加至黏合劑而形成。
- 如申請專利範圍第2項所述之雙壁容器,其中該發泡劑係藉由加熱黏合劑而活化。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之雙壁容器,其中經發泡之該黏合劑是一經發泡之澱粉基黏合劑。
- 如申請專利範圍第4項所述之雙壁容器,其中該澱粉基黏合劑係以氣體、空氣或一發泡劑來發泡。
- 如申請專利範圍第5項所述之雙壁容器,其中該氣體係一經注射的氮氣。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之雙壁容器,其中該黏合劑係選自以下各者所構成之群組:一澱粉基黏合劑、一熱熔性聚合物黏合劑及一生物可降解膠。
- 如申請專利範圍第7項所述之雙壁容器,其中該黏合劑係一熱熔性聚合物黏合劑,且以一惰性氣體、空氣或一發泡劑來發泡。
- 如申請專利範圍第8項所述之雙壁容器,其中該惰性氣體係一經注射的氮氣。
- 一種製造一雙壁容器之方法,包含:提供一容器之一內壁;提供該容器之一外壁;提供一施用器,以施用一經發泡之黏合劑;將該內壁固接至一心軸;移動該心軸或該施用器以相對於彼此而對齊;在該心軸之相對運動期間,將經發泡之該黏合劑至少施用且黏合至該內壁;及將該外壁覆於該內壁以形成該容器;其中被施用之經發泡的該黏合劑乾燥成一含空隙之隔離材料,該含空隙之隔離材料具有一發泡體結構,而該發泡體結構帶有經改良之機械及隔熱性質,且產生該內壁及該外壁間的數個氣道。
- 如申請專利範圍第10項所述之方法,其中該黏合劑係選自以下各者所構成之群組:一澱粉基黏合劑、一熱熔性聚合物黏合劑及一生物可降解膠。
- 如申請專利範圍第10或11項所述之方法,其中經發泡之該黏合劑係藉由將一惰性氣體或空氣注入黏合劑、或藉由將一發泡劑添加至黏合劑而形成。
