Description
本發明係關於一種製備分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體的方法、經分離經包囊之顆粒狀固體及該等固體在墨水(尤其噴墨印刷墨水)中之用途。
許多墨水、研磨料、油漆及其類似物需要有效的分散劑,以使顆粒狀固體能均勻分散在液體媒劑中。液體媒劑從高度極性液體(例如水)至高度非極性液體(例如甲苯)具有多元性。已知分散劑僅傾向於對極性範圍內之液體媒劑有效。在該等極性範圍外,顆粒狀固體一般會絮結。因此,各種範圍之分散劑業經開發,以用於不同極性之液體介質。製備可成功地將顆粒狀固體穩定在包含水及大量有機溶劑之液體介質中的分散劑特別困難。
習知分散劑藉由物理相互作用而吸附至顆粒狀固體之表面上。多種習知分散劑存在著易被較強吸附材料自顆粒狀固體之表面置換並可導致分散及絮結不穩定之缺陷。
與習知分散劑相關聯之問題可藉由在交聯分散劑中包囊顆粒狀固體來部分地解決。用交聯分散劑包囊顆粒狀固體之方法一般在液體介質中進行。可交聯分散劑可與分散在液體介質中之顆粒狀固體混合,接著分散劑吸附至顆粒狀固體表面並接著可使用交聯劑經由可交聯基團使分散劑交聯從而將分散劑"固定"在顆粒狀固體上。該方法於US 6,262,152、WO 00/20520、JP 1997104834、JP 1999-152424及EP 732,381中有所描述。
吾人已發現已知之包囊方法存在缺陷。具體言之,所得經包囊之顆粒狀固體常常不具有用於噴墨印表機之墨水所需的穩定性。穩定性對於噴墨印刷墨水而言非常重要,因為任何沈澱物質可輕易阻塞細噴嘴。
吾人亦已發現常用以實現交聯之高溫(100℃以上)可使顆粒狀固體不穩定、聚集及/或絮結。此導致經包囊之顆粒狀固體之平均粒徑增加且甚至可形成不良聚集及/或絮結材料。因此,製備經精細分散、穩定包囊之顆粒狀固體有著實際困難。於WO 00/20520中描述之異氰酸酯/羥基方法或於EP 732,381中描述之異氰酸酯/胺方法可作為在低於100℃之溫度下達成交聯的實例而提及。然而某些異氰酸酯被認為具有不良之毒性概況。
因此,需要一種不使用異氰酸酯交聯劑製備經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液的方法,且該方法可提供經精細分散、穩定包囊之顆粒狀固體。
根據本發明之第一態樣,係提供一種製備分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體的方法,該方法包含在顆粒狀固體及液體介質存在下使分散劑與交聯劑交聯,藉此在經交聯之分散劑中包囊該顆粒狀固體,其中:a)該分散劑具有至少一個羧酸基;且b)該交聯劑具有至少兩個環氧基;其中該交聯劑具有一或多個寡聚分散基團及/或分散劑具有至少125 mg KOH/g之酸價。
在一實施例中羧酸與環氧基之間的交聯反應係在溫度低於100℃且pH至少為6時進行。
顆粒狀固體可包含且較佳為不溶於液體介質中之無機或有機顆粒狀固體材料或其混合物。
適當可溶性顆粒狀固體之實例為無機及有機顏料;用於油漆及塑膠材料之增量劑及填充劑;液體介質中之分散染料及水溶性染料,該液體介質不溶解該等染料;光學增亮劑;用於溶劑染浴、墨水及其它溶劑應用系統之紡織助劑;顆粒狀陶瓷材料;磁性顆粒(例如用於磁性記錄媒體);殺生物劑;農用化學品;及醫藥。
顆粒狀固體較佳為著色劑,更佳為顏料。
較佳之顆粒狀顏料為有機顏料,例如在染料索引(Colour Index)第三版(1971)及繼而之修訂版及另外之贈刊中,題名為"顏料"一章中所描述的任何類型之顏料。有機顏料之實例為源自偶氮(包括雙偶氮及縮合偶氮)、硫靛、陰丹士林、異陰丹士林、蒽嵌蒽醌、蒽醌、異二苯幷蒽酮、三苯二噁嗪、喹吖啶酮、酞菁系列之彼等顏料,尤其為銅酞菁及其核經鹵化之衍生物,亦及酸、鹼及媒染染料之色澱。碳黑,儘管常被認作無機物,但其分散特性表現得更類似於有機顏料且其為合適之顆粒狀固體之另一實例。較佳有機顏料為酞菁,尤其為銅酞菁顏料、偶氮顏料、陰丹士林、蒽嵌蒽醌、喹吖啶酮及碳黑顏料。
較佳之無機顆粒狀固體包括:增量劑及填充劑,例如滑石、高嶺土、二氧化矽、重晶石及白堊;顆粒狀陶瓷材料,例如氧化鋁、二氧化矽、氧化鋯、二氧化鈦、氮化矽、氮化硼、碳化矽、碳化硼、混合氮化矽-鋁(silicon-aluminium nitride)及金屬鈦酸鹽;顆粒狀磁性材料,例如過渡金屬(尤其係鐵及鉻)之磁性氧化物,例如γ-Fe2
O3
、Fe3
O4
及摻鈷氧化鐵、氧化鈣、鐵氧體,尤其係鋇鐵氧體;及金屬顆粒,尤其係金屬鐵、鎳、鈷及其合金。
在使用本發明之方法製造用於墨水,例如噴墨印刷墨水中的經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液時,顏料較佳為青色、品紅色、黃色或黑色顏料。該顆粒狀固體可為單一化學物質或包含兩種或兩種以上化學物質之混合物(例如包含兩種或兩種以上不同顏料之混合物)。換言之,兩種或兩種以上不同顆粒狀固體可用於本發明之方法中。
液體介質可為非極性但較佳為極性。"極性"液體介質一般能夠形成中性鍵至強鍵,例如在Journal of Paint Technology,第38卷,1966,第269頁,Crowley等人之名為"A Three Dimensional Approach to Solubility"之文章中所描述。極性液體介質一般具有如在上文提及之文章中所定義之5個或5個以上氫鍵數。
合適之極性液體介質之實例包括醚類、二醇類、醇類、多元醇類、醯胺類且尤其包括水。
較佳地,液體介質係水或包含水,如此傾向於導致特別穩定及精細之經包囊之顆粒狀固體。較佳地,該液體介質包含自1至100重量%、較佳為自10至100重量%、尤其係自20至90重量%且更尤其係自30至80重量%的水。剩餘物較佳為一或多種極性有機液體。
較佳之非極性液體介質包括非鹵化芳烴(例如甲苯及二甲苯);鹵化芳烴(例如氯苯、二氯苯及氯甲苯);非鹵化脂族烴(例如含有六個或六個以上碳原子之直鏈脂族烴及支鏈脂族烴,包括全飽和及部分飽和);鹵化脂族烴(例如二氯甲烷、四氯化碳、氯仿、三氯乙烷);天然非極性液體(例如植物油、向日葵油、亞麻子油、萜類及脂肪酸甘油酯類);及其組合。
液體介質可包含液體之混合物,該等液體可為極性或非極性液體。較佳地液體介質之至少一種組份為極性液體且更佳地該液體介質之所有組份均為極性液體。
當液體介質包含一種以上液體時,該液體介質可呈多相液體形式(例如液-液乳液)但較佳為單一相(均勻)液體形式。
較佳地,除水以外之該等極性液體可與水混溶。
在一較佳實施例中,液體介質包含水及水混溶性有機液體。由於該液體介質輔助溶解及/或分散廣泛範圍之交聯劑,因此以該液體介質為較佳。
液體介質中所含之較佳水混溶性有機液體包括C1 - 6

分散劑中羧酸基之作用主要係在交聯劑中與環氧基交聯。另外,任何未反應之羧酸基可輔助最終經包囊之顆粒狀固體的穩定性以防止絮結及凝集。羧酸基在極性且尤其在水性介質中作為穩定基團係有效的。
在羧酸基係用於穩定分散於液體介質中之最終經包囊之顆粒狀固體的唯一基團時,較佳具有莫耳數超過環氧基之羧酸基以確保未反應之羧酸基在交聯反應完成之後有所剩餘。在一實施例中羧酸基莫耳數與環氧基莫耳數之比較佳為10:1至1.1:1、更佳為5:1至1.1:1且尤其較佳為3:1至1.1:1。
分散劑可視情況具有其它穩定基團,對該等穩定基團及該等基團量的選擇很大程度將取決於該液體介質的性質。穩定基團傾向於親水性(例如極性介質)或疏水性(例如非極性介質)。
較佳之聚合分散劑衍生自親水性及疏水性單體。

親水性殘基可藉由使用較異氰酸酯基團過量之羥基來引入聚胺基甲酸酯中以使得聚合之後所得親水性聚胺基甲酸酯具有未反應之羥基。同樣地,亦可使用含有經保護之親水性基團(諸如矽烷化羥基)的單體,該等經保護之基團可在聚合之後去保護。
較佳選擇分散劑以適合用於製備經包囊之顆粒狀固體之方法的液體介質亦及適合用於任何吾人所需之最終組合物的液體媒劑,該最終組合物中將使用經包囊之顆粒狀固體(例如墨水)。因此,舉例而言,當經包囊之顆粒狀固體欲用於水性噴墨印刷墨水時,該分散劑較佳具有顯著的親水特性。類似地,當經包囊之顆粒狀固體欲用於油基(非水性)油漆或墨水時,該分散劑較佳具有顯著的疏水特性。
在交聯劑具有一或多個寡聚分散基團之實施例中,分散劑可具有任何酸價,其限制條件為其保持分散劑特性且限制條件為該分散劑具有足夠的羧酸基以有效地與交聯劑交聯。
在交聯劑具有一或多個寡聚分散基團之實施例中,該分散劑較佳具有至少125 mg KOH/g之酸價。
在所有實施例中,分散劑之酸價(AV)較佳為130至320且更佳為135至250 mg KOH/g。吾人已發現具有該等酸價之分散劑提供生成的經包囊之顆粒狀固體,該固體展示改良之穩定性。此改良之穩定性尤其適用於噴墨印刷中要求使用之液體媒劑,而顆粒狀固體更難分散並與具有少量且尤其無寡聚分散基團之交聯劑一起使用。
較佳地,分散劑具有500至100,000、更佳為1,000至50,000且尤其為1,000至35,000範圍之數量平均分子量。該分子量較佳藉由凝膠滲透層析法("GPC")來量測。
分散劑不必完全可溶於液體介質中。也就是說無需完全澄清及非擴散之溶液。分散劑可在類似界面活性劑之微胞中凝集,在液體介質中產生略微渾濁的溶液。分散劑可使得一定比例之分散劑傾向於形成膠體或微胞相。分散劑最好在液體介質中產生均勻且穩定之分散液,其在靜置時不沉降或分離。
分散劑最好大體上可溶於產生澄清或渾濁溶液之液體介質中。
較佳之無規聚合分散劑傾向於產生澄清組合物,而具有兩個或兩個以上段之次佳之聚合分散劑傾向於在液體介質中產生上文提及之渾濁組合物。
本發明之一重要特徵為分散劑在交聯之前被吸附於顆粒狀固體之上從而形成相對穩定的分散液。接著使用交聯劑來交聯此分散液。此預吸附及預穩定作用尤其使本發明區別於凝聚方法,藉以將聚合物或預聚合物(非分散劑)與顆粒狀固體、液體介質及交聯劑混合,且所生成之交聯聚合物僅在交聯期間或交聯之後沉澱於顆粒狀固體之上。
在分散劑具有至少125 mg KOH/g酸價之實施例中,交聯劑可不具有寡聚分散基團,但該交聯劑較佳具有一或多個寡聚分散基團。
如本文所用之術語寡聚物不限於任何分子量上限或任何關於重複單元數量的上限。
吾人已驚奇地發現具有一或多個寡聚分散基團之交聯劑可增加所得經包囊之顆粒狀固體的穩定性。此增加之穩定性尤其適用於噴墨印刷中要求使用之液體介質,而顆粒狀固體更難分散及/或與具有小於125 mg KOH/g酸價之分散劑一起使用。
寡聚分散基團較佳為或包含聚環氧烷、更佳為聚C2 - 4
-環氧烷且尤其為聚環氧乙烷。聚環氧烷基團提供改良所得經包囊之顆粒狀固體之穩定性的空間穩定化作用。
聚環氧烷較佳含有3至200、更佳為5至50且尤其為5至20個環氧烷重複單元。

具有三個或三個以上環氧基及零個寡聚分散基團之較佳交聯劑為山梨糖醇多縮水甘油醚、聚甘油多縮水甘油醚、異戊四醇多縮水甘油醚、二甘油多縮水甘油醚、甘油多縮水甘油醚及三羥甲基丙烷多縮水甘油醚。
當分散劑僅包含一個羧酸基時,交聯劑較佳為包含至少十個環氧基及(視情況)一或多個寡聚分散基團之聚合物。聚合交聯劑之一較佳實例為包含(甲基)丙烯酸縮水甘油酯之聚乙烯共聚物。
交聯劑較佳可溶於液體介質中,尤其當該液體介質為水性時。更佳地,交聯劑在水中具有溶解性以使得水與交聯劑(含有1重量%交聯劑)之混合物在25℃溫度下為溶液形式。
吾人已發現大體上不溶於液體介質之交聯劑傾向於導致顆粒狀固體之凝聚或凝集。
交聯劑較佳具有一或多個乙二醇基團以有助於交聯劑溶解。
分散劑中可使用一或多種交聯劑使羧酸基交聯。
當使用一種以上交聯劑時,此等交聯劑可具有相同或不同數目之環氧基。
僅在交聯劑中存在之交聯基團最好為環氧基。
因此在一實施例中,本發明提供一種製備分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體的方法,其包含在顆粒狀固體及液體介質存在下使分散劑與交聯劑交聯,藉此將顆粒狀固體包囊於經交聯之分散劑內,其中:a)分散劑具有至少一個羧酸基;b)交聯劑具有至少兩個環氧基及一或多個乙二醇基團;且c)羧酸基與環氧基之間的交聯反應係在低於100℃之溫度及至少6之pH值下進行。
在另一實施例中,交聯劑具有一或多個寡聚分散基團且分散劑具有至少125 mg KOH/g之酸價。吾人已發現來自交聯劑之寡聚分散基團與酸價為至少125 mg KOH/g之分散劑的組合效應提供液體媒劑中經包囊之顆粒狀固體優良的穩定性。
已知羧酸基與環氧基之間的反應可作為交聯方式使用。然而,該等反應傾向於在與路易斯酸及/或低pH值(小於5)及大約150℃之溫度下進行。吾人已驚奇地發現當環氧/羧酸交聯反應在至少6之pH值處實現時,該反應亦可在低於100℃之溫度下進行。令吾人驚奇地,該交聯反應亦可在水或包含水的液體介質中進行。亦出乎吾人意料地,預期鹼性pH值之水傾向於水解環氧基且大大降低交聯反應之效力。
用於交聯之低溫為較佳因為此可導致液體介質中顆粒狀固體較低程度之絮結及顆粒尺寸增長。較佳地,該交聯反應在10℃至90℃且更佳為30℃至70℃溫度下進行。
交聯反應之pH值較佳為7至14、更佳為7至12且尤其較佳為8至11。
在交聯反應開始之前,分散劑中之羧酸基可為如本文先前所描述之鹽及/或游離酸的形式。然而為了在低於100℃之溫度下更好地實現羧酸基與環氧基之間的反應,吾人已發現至少一些羧酸基以鹽之形式存在很重要。該鹽形式可藉由在交聯之前將(根據本發明之第一態樣之方法中所存在的所有組份的)pH值調節至至少6來獲得。
該pH值調節可藉由添加任何合適之鹼來進行。較佳之鹼包括金屬氫氧化物、氧化物、碳酸鹽及胺、經取代之胺及烷醇胺。尤其較佳之鹼為鹼金屬氫氧化物、氨、三乙胺及三乙醇胺。尤其較佳之鹼金屬氫氧化物為氫氧化鉀。
用於交聯反應之時間某種程度上取決於溫度及pH值。然而,較佳之時間為1至24小時、更佳為1至8小時。
較佳地,該交聯藉由包含使顆粒狀固體、分散劑、交聯劑及液體介質混合之方法來進行。
該等組份可藉由任何合適之方法來混合,例如震盪、攪拌等。
較佳地,該交聯藉由包含以特定比例混合包含下列組份之組合物的方法來進行:a)30至99.7份、較佳為50至97份之液體介質;b)0.1至50份、較佳為1至30份之顆粒狀固體;c)0.1至30份、較佳為1至30份之分散劑;及d)0.001至30份、較佳為0.01至10份之交聯劑;其中該等份數係以重量計且份數之總和a)+b)+c)+d)=100。

若在該顆粒狀固體之機械處理期間存在交聯劑,則在固體之顆粒尺寸完全減少之前此可導致分散液之不良預交聯。當在分散劑及液體介質存在下研磨該顆粒狀固體時,溫度較佳不得高於40℃且尤其不得高於30℃。
較佳於任何減少顆粒狀固體之顆粒尺寸的機械處理之後將交聯劑添加至包含顆粒狀固體、分散劑及液體介質之混合物中。添加交聯劑的同時可發生交聯,但最好至少較大部分之交聯發生在交聯劑完全添加之後。此有助於組合物中交聯劑更均勻之分散且導致更均勻之交聯。
為了在將交聯劑添加至包含顆粒狀固體、分散劑及液體介質之混合物中的同時抑制交聯,該交聯劑較佳在低於40℃且尤其為低於30℃之溫度下添加至該混合物中。
該方法較佳地導致經包囊之顆粒狀固體的Z-平均顆粒尺寸較添加交聯劑之前之顆粒狀固體的Z-平均顆粒尺寸大至多50%。
較佳地,該等經包囊之顆粒狀固體具有小於500 nm、更佳為10至500 nm且尤其為10至300 nm之Z-平均顆粒尺寸。習知地,具有小於500 nm之Z-平均尺寸之顆粒狀固體難以有效地穩定。此尺寸之顆粒狀固體尤其適用於油漆及墨水,尤其適用於噴墨印刷墨水。
該Z-平均顆粒尺寸可藉由任何已知之方式來量測,但較佳方法係藉由自MalvernT M
或CoulterT M
購得之光相關光譜分析裝置來量測。
本發明之方法能在中等溫度且在具有良好毒理學概況之交聯劑情況下進行。該方法提供降低程度之凝集及/或絮結及顆粒狀固體之顆粒尺寸之最小增長。因此,此方法尤其適用於以小顆粒尺寸為重之應用。舉例而言,噴墨印刷中不需要大顆粒係因為其可阻塞打印頭所使用之微型噴嘴。此外,使用低溫之能力能夠包囊並分散對溫度敏感之顆粒狀固體,例如藥品及農用化學品。
較佳可藉由過濾且稱量過濾器上所保留之經乾燥凝集及絮結物質來量測在包囊方法期間形成之任何少量的凝集及絮結物質。此處較佳使用具有1微米之微孔尺寸之過濾器。亦較佳在加熱及開始交聯反應之前預過濾根據本發明之第一態樣之方法所使用之組份。且此過濾器較佳具有1微米之微孔尺寸。以此方法僅量測得自交聯反應之凝集及絮結物質而非量測源自例如顆粒狀固體之不充分機械分散液的物質。
亦可藉由視覺定性評估或藉由定量數位影像擷取及分析來使用光學顯微鏡以量測包囊反應期間凝集及/或絮結的程度。
根據本發明之第二態樣,其提供藉由本發明之第一態樣之方法可獲得或獲得之分散於液體介質中的經包囊之顆粒狀固體。
生成之經包囊之顆粒狀固體本身為顆粒。也就是說,本發明並非關於乾燥時所發生或將組份膠凝化成靜止固體或半固體之任何形式之交聯。
大體上所有經包囊之顆粒狀固體顆粒最好包含於交聯分散劑內包囊之單一固體顆粒。
若需要,則該方法可進一步包含將經包囊之顆粒狀固體自液體介質中分離之步驟。此較佳藉由例如蒸發液體介質來達成,或次佳藉由沉澱或絮結經包囊之顆粒狀固體然後過濾來達成。
蒸發之較佳方法包括冷凍乾燥、噴霧乾燥及攪拌乾燥。沉澱及絮結之較佳方法包括添加金屬鹽及離心法。
根據本發明之第三態樣,提供藉由將該等經包囊之顆粒狀固體自根據本發明之第二態樣而分散於液體介質中的經包囊之顆粒狀固體中分離之方法從而可獲得或獲得的經包囊之顆粒狀固體。
藉由根據本發明之第一態樣之方法而製備的經包囊之顆粒狀固體適用於提供包含液體媒劑及經包囊之顆粒狀固體的組合物。該術語"液體媒劑"係指存在於例如墨水、油漆及其類似物之最終用途調配物中的液體。
較佳地,使經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散於液體媒劑中。更佳地,該分散液為大體上均勻。
因此,根據本發明之第四態樣,其提供包含液體媒劑及藉由根據本發明第一態樣之方法獲得或可獲得之經包囊之顆粒狀固體的組合物。
該等組合物可藉由將一或多種液體添加至該方法之產物中及/或藉由濃縮該方法之產物及/或藉由分離該方法之產物且將分離的經包囊之顆粒狀固體與液體媒劑混合來製備。較佳地,藉由向得自根據本發明之第一態樣之方法的分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體中添加一或多種所需液體媒劑組份來製備該組合物。此未分離經包囊之顆粒狀固體(為"乾燥"sate)之後一方法傾向於導致液體煤劑中較小顆粒尺寸的經包囊之顆粒狀固體。
上述組合物較佳為墨水,其中該顆粒狀固體為著色劑且更佳為顏料。
該液體媒劑與製備經包囊之顆粒狀固體之方法中所使用的液體介質可相同或不同。也就是說在某些情況下,本發明方法之產物可直接適用於諸如墨水之最終用途應用中,而不需要以任何方式改變液體組份。
常需要該液體媒劑包含高比例的水且需要在根據本發明之第一態樣之方法進行後添加製造所要組合物(例如墨水)另外所需的液體。
在噴墨印刷組合物之情況下,該液體媒劑較佳包含水與有機液體,其較佳為水混溶性有機液體。較佳水混溶性有機液體如本文先前所描述。水與水混溶性有機液體的較佳比例如本文先前所描述。
較佳組合物包含:a)0.1至50份、更佳為1至25份之藉由根據本發明第一態樣之方法可獲得或獲得的經包囊之顆粒狀固體;b)50至99.9份、更佳為99至75份之液體媒劑,其包含水及/或水混溶性有機液體;其中該等份數以重量計且a)及b)組份相加為100份。
本發明之組合物尤其適用於或用作噴墨印刷墨水,尤其在該顆粒狀固體為顏料時。
在噴墨印刷之情況下,根據本發明之第四態樣的組合物在25℃溫度下較佳具有小於30 mPa.s、更佳為小於20 mPa.s且尤其為小於10 mPa.s之黏度。
在噴墨印刷之情況下,根據本發明之第四態樣的組合物在25℃溫度下較佳具有20至65達因/公分(dynes/cm)、更佳為25至50達因/公分之表面張力。
本發明之噴墨印刷組合物亦可包含額外之適用於噴墨印刷墨水之組份,例如黏度調節劑、pH值緩衝劑(例如1:9檸檬酸/檸檬酸鈉)、腐蝕抑制劑、殺生物劑、染料及/或防污染添加劑。
根據本發明之第五態樣,其提供用於在基板上印刷圖像之方法,該方法包含較佳藉助於噴墨印表機將根據本發明第四態樣之組合物施用於基板上。

根據本發明之第七態樣,其提供一包含腔室及根據本發明第四態樣之組合物的噴墨印表機墨水匣,其中該組合物存在於該腔室內。
由本發明之方法可獲得或獲得之經包囊之顆粒狀固體亦可用於包含經包囊之顆粒狀固體、液體媒劑及黏合劑之表面塗料及油漆。顆粒狀固體較佳為著色劑、增量劑或填充劑。如同墨水一樣,可使用分離之經包囊之顆粒狀固體來製造油漆,但更佳使用得自根據本發明第一態樣之方法的分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體。
因此,根據本發明之第八態樣而提供一種組合物,該組合物包含由根據本發明之第一態樣之方法可獲得或獲得之經包囊之顆粒狀著色劑、增量劑或填充劑、黏合劑及液體媒劑。該黏合劑為能夠在液體介質已蒸發掉及/或吸收進入基板之後黏合該組合物之聚合材料。
合適之黏合劑包括天然及合成聚合物。較佳之黏合劑包括聚(甲基)丙烯酸酯、聚苯乙烯、聚酯、聚胺基甲酸酯、醇酸、多醣(例如纖維素)及蛋白質(例如酪蛋白)。該黏合劑較佳以經包囊之顆粒狀固體之重量計大於100%、更佳為200%、尤其更佳為300%且最佳大於400%存在於組合物中。
本發明藉由下列實例作進一步說明,其中除非另外規定,否則所有份數及百分數均以重量計。
藉由混合甲基丙烯酸(172份)、甲基丙烯酸甲酯(478份)、甲基丙烯酸2-乙基己酯(350份)及異丙醇(375份)來製備單體進料組合物。藉由混合2,2’-偶氮二(2-甲基丁腈)(22.05份)及異丙醇(187.5份)來製備引發劑進料組合物;在反應容器中將異丙醇(187.5份)加熱至80℃、連續攪拌且以氮氣氣氛淨化。將單體進料及引發劑進料組合物緩緩饋入反應容器中,同時攪拌該等內容物、保持溫度在80℃且保持氮氣氣氛。經2小時將單體進料與引發劑進料兩者饋入反應容器中。將反應容器內容物於80℃再保持4小時然後冷卻至25℃。接著藉由減壓下旋轉蒸發將所得之分散劑自反應容器內容物中分離。將此命名為分散劑(1)。分散劑(1)為丙烯酸系共聚物,其具有由GPC量測之11,865之數量平均分子量、112 mg KOH/g之酸價、29,225之重量平均分子量及2.5之多分散性。
步驟(i)
藉由混合表1各列之組份來製備單體進料組合物(2)至(4):
步驟(ii)
藉由混合表2各列之組份來製備引發劑進料組合物(2)至(4):
步驟(iii)
聚合以製備分散劑(2)至(4)。
分散劑(2)至(4)以與分散劑(1)完全相同之方式來製備及分離,除使用步驟(i)所製備的單體進料組合物(2)至(4)及步驟(ii)所製備的引發劑進料組合物(2)至(4)代替製備分散劑(1)所使用之彼等組合物之外。
由GPC確立之分散劑(2)至(4)之分子量列表於表3中:
將分散劑(1)至(4)(150份)各自溶解於水(470份)中且以氫氧化鉀水溶液中和以給出pH值為約9之水溶液。此導致含有大約24重量%分散劑之分散劑溶液(1)至(4)。
將顆粒狀固體(C.I.顏料藍15:3,60份,不包括Clariant)與分散劑溶液(1)(340份)混合。使該混合物於Blackley研磨機中研磨3小時。此所得研磨漿命名為研磨漿(1),其包含Z-平均顆粒尺寸為170 nm、pH值為8.7及15重量%顏料含量之顆粒狀固體。
使顆粒狀固體(C.I.顏料藍15:3或碳黑)與表4所描述之分散劑溶液(2)至(4)之一者混合。接著用水使該混合物高達400份。將該混合物在直立式Blackley玻珠研磨機中研磨若干小時。
表4中指示之分散劑的量為純分散劑而非分散劑溶液的量。因此,舉例而言,1份純分散劑對應於5份含有20重量%分散劑之分散劑溶液。
在研磨之後量測最終的Z-平均顆粒尺寸。該等結果列於表4之最後一行中。
將數量平均分子量為約526之聚乙二醇二縮水甘油醚(意即交聯劑)(0.229份由Aldrich供給,具有第47,569-6目錄號)於約25℃溫度下緩緩添加至研磨漿(1)(50份)中,接著將該混合物於40℃至50℃下加熱且攪拌6小時。交聯反應期間混合物之pH值為9.5。生成的經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液(1)之Z-平均顆粒尺寸為170 nm,其完全未增加。
除使用表5所指示之研磨漿代替研磨漿1之外,經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液(2)至(8)以與經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液(1)完全相同之方式來製備,且表5中描述交聯反應期間所使用之聚乙二醇二縮水甘油醚之量及pH值:
表5中描述所得經包囊之顆粒狀固體之Z-平均顆粒尺寸及Z-平均顆粒尺寸自研磨漿至經包囊之顆粒狀固體的增加%。在所有情況下,形成經包囊之顆粒狀固體之交聯反應僅導致顆粒狀固體之Z-平均顆粒尺寸之微量增加。
經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液(2)至(8)及研磨漿(2)至(8)藉由將各分散液或研磨漿(含3份純顆粒狀固體)與乙二醇丁醚(butyl cellosolve)T M
(10份)、丁基卡必醇(butyl carbitol)T M
(16份)、吡咯啶酮(5份)、界面活性劑(1份)及足量水混合以產生100份之總量來測試其穩定性。如此形成之混合物為含有大量水混溶性有機液體(大約以全部墨水重量計之31%)之噴墨印刷墨水。
自表6可以看出含有經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液(2)至(8)之噴墨印刷墨水展示儲存後Z-平均顆粒尺寸之增加量遠遠低於含有未經包囊之研磨漿之墨水,且因此含有經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液之墨水具有較高穩定性。
在此實例中研究酸價對墨水穩定性之影響。在此實例中所選用之特定顏料係一種較先前實例中所使用之顏料更難穩定的顏料,從而突出酸價對於穩定性可具有的任何差異。
如下製備分別具有154與112之AV的分散劑9與10:
藉由混合甲基丙烯酸MAA、甲基丙烯酸甲酯MMA、甲基丙烯酸2-乙基己酯2EHMA及異丙醇來製備單體進料組合物。藉由混合2,2'-偶氮二(2-甲基丁腈)AZBN與異丙醇(187.5份)來製備引發劑進料組合物。表7中為單體及引發劑重量份數:
在反應容器中將異丙醇(187.5份)加熱至80℃、連續攪拌且以氮氣氣氛淨化。將單體進料及引發劑進料組合物緩緩饋入反應容器中,同時不斷攪拌內容物、保持溫度在80℃且保持氮氣氣氛。經2小時將單體進料及引發劑進料均饋入反應器中。將該反應容器內容物於80℃再保持4小時然後冷卻至25℃。接著藉由在減壓下旋轉蒸發而將分散劑自反應容器內容物中分離。表7中給出兩種分散劑之Mw及Mn及酸價。
將分散劑9(150份)溶解於水中且以氫氧化鉀水溶液中和以產生pH值為10.1之水溶液,將其命名為分散劑溶液(9)。該聚合物含量為30.6%。
將分散劑10(150份)溶解於水中且以氫氧化鉀水溶液中和以給出pH值為10.9之水溶液,將其命名為分散劑溶液(10)。該聚合物含量為21.2%。
將顏料藍15:4水性漿料(例如Sun Chemicals,260份)與分散劑溶液(9)(147份)及水(192份)混合。將該混合物在微型-Zeta玻珠研磨機中研磨3小時。該分散劑具有100 nm之顆粒尺寸(d90)。該分散劑具有15重量%之顏料含量。
將顏料藍15:4水漿(例如Sun Chemicals,260份)與分散劑溶液(10)(212份)及水(127份)混合。將該混合物在微型-Zeta玻珠研磨機中研磨3小時。該分散劑具有115 nm之顆粒尺寸(d90)。該分散劑具有15重量%之顏料含量。
將聚乙二醇二縮水甘油醚(交聯劑,0.35份)於約25℃溫度下緩緩添加至各顏料分散液(70份)中,接著在50℃溫度下加熱混合物且攪拌6小時。表8中展示分散液之顆粒尺寸、pH值及黏度。所有分散液具有如表8中所展示之低黏度及小顆粒尺寸:
將經包囊之顆粒狀固體分散液(9)及(10)組成具有表9中描述之調配物的墨水9及10:
藉由監控在60℃下儲存1週後墨水9及10之顆粒尺寸增長或黏度來評估墨水9及10的穩定性。顆粒尺寸或黏度變化越小,則墨水越穩定。表10中展示了此評估結果:
d90及d[4,3]為體積平均顆粒直徑。
上述表格展示得自AV 154 mg KOH/g之分散劑之墨水9具有較得自AV 112 mg KOH/g之分散劑之墨水10的更高的穩定性。
Claims (24)
- 一種製備分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體的方法,該方法包含在顆粒狀固體及該液體介質存在下,使分散劑與交聯劑交聯,藉此在經交聯之分散劑內包囊該顆粒狀固體,其中:a)該分散劑在交聯之前被吸附於顆粒狀固體之上且該分散劑具有至少一個羧酸基;且b)該交聯劑具有至少兩個環氧基;其中該交聯劑具有一或多個寡聚分散基團。
- 如請求項1之方法,其中該分散劑中至少一些羧酸基以鹽之形式存在。
- 如請求項2之方法,其中該分散劑具有至少125 mg KOH/g之酸價。
- 如請求項1之方法,其中該寡聚分散基團為聚環氧烷或包含聚環氧烷。
- 如請求項4之方法,其中該聚環氧烷含有3至200個環氧烷重複單元。
- 如請求項5之方法,其中該聚環氧烷含有5至20個環氧烷重複單元。
- 如請求項4至6中任一項之方法,其中該聚環氧烷為聚環氧乙烷或包含聚環氧乙烷。

- 如請求項1之製備分散於液體介質中之經包囊之顆粒狀固體的方法,其中:a)該分散劑具有至少一個羧酸基;b)該交聯劑具有至少兩個環氧基及一或多個乙二醇基團;且c)該羧酸基與該環氧基之間的交聯反應係在低於100℃之溫度及至少6之pH值下進行。
