DESCRIÇÃO
Microcânula Oftálmica Compósita Campo da Invenção [0001] A presente invenção refere-se a microcânulas que são construídas com múltiplos componentes num design compósito. Este design confere à microcânula propriedades mecânicas e de administração variáveis, que permitirão que os tratamentos oftálmicos sejam feitos por meios minimamente invasivos.
Antecedentes da Invenção: [0002] Uma variedade de cateteres e cânulas é usada em cirurgia oftálmica para fornecer líquidos, gás, sucção e energia a determinadas regiões do olho. As cânulas existentes são, normalmente, segmentos, rectos ou curvos, de plástico rígido ou tubos metálicos ligados a um conector. No desenvolvimento dos métodos de cirurgia avançada para o tratamento ocular, é desejável a existência de uma cânula que consiga aceder e avançar dentro de estruturas ou canais muito pequenos, no olho, para a realização de procedimentos minimamente invasivos. Tais microcânulas que acedem a espaços curvos ou tortuosos como o Canal de Schlemm ou pequenos vasos sanguíneos, requerem uma combinação de flexibilidade e possibilidade de impulsão, enquanto mantêm um diâmetro no intervalo de 50 a 350 mícrones. A presente invenção descreve microcânulas que são construídas com múltiplos componentes num design compósito. Este design confere à microcânula propriedades mecânicas e de administração variáveis, que permitirão que os tratamentos oftálmicos sejam feitos por meios minimamente invasivos. 1

Claims (26)
- REIVINDICAÇÕES 1. Uma microcânula compósita para acesso e avanço num espaço de tecido ocular, que compreende: pelo menos um elemento de comunicação tubular e flexível (1) configurado para caber dentro do espaço tecidular e que tem um diâmetro exterior que não ultrapassa os 350 micrones, o elemento de comunicação (1), tendo uma extremidade proximal e uma extremidade distai (3); um conector proximal ligado à referida extremidade proximal, o dito conector proximal estando configurado para a introdução de materiais, energia ou ferramentas; e um elemento de reforço (2) ligado ao elemento de comunicação, que se caracteriza por a microcânula compósita ter uma rigidez de flexão no intervalo de 3,09 E-ll a 2,86 E-10 kN*m e estar associada à administração de um material lubrificante para permitir o acesso a toda a circunferência do canal de Schlemm através da microcânula.
- 2. A microcânula da reivindicação 1, em que a microcânula compreende um sinal luminoso (11) que permite identificar a posição da ponta distai.
- 3. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou 2, em que a microcânula compreende ainda pelo menos um elemento de comunicação adicional.
- 4. A microcânula da reivindicação 3, em que um dos 1 elementos de comunicação fornece um sinal luminoso (11) na ponta distai da microcânula.
- 5. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 compreendendo ainda: um lúmen de comunicação de liquido, o dito conector proximal sendo configurado para administrar líquidos; um sinal luminoso (11); e um segundo elemento de comunicação configurado para fornecer o sinal luminoso, em que o sinal luminoso permite a identificação da ponta distai da microcânula.
- 6. A microcânula compósita da reivindicação 5, em que o segundo elemento de comunicação compreende uma fibra óptica (9) e o sinal luminoso fornece luz visível.
- 7. Um sistema para realizar cirurgia oftálmica que compreende: uma microcânula compósita como reivindicado na reivindicação 1 e uma abertura distai na referida microcânula, o referido material lubrificante compreendendo um líquido lubrificante e em que a referida abertura distai está localizada de modo a permitir o fornecimento do referido líquido lubrificante, no espaço tecidular em torno da referida extremidade distai. 8. 0 sistema da reivindicação 7 que compreende ainda um segundo elemento de comunicação. 2 9. 0 sistema da reivindicação 8, em que o segundo elemento de comunicação tem um sinal luminoso que permite identificar a posição de uma ponta distai da microcânula.
- 10. A microcânula da reivindicação 3 ou o sistema da reivindicação 8, em que o segundo, ou adicional, elemento de comunicação se situa dentro do lúmen do primeiro elemento de comunicação.
- 11. A microcânula da reivindicação 3 ou o sistema da reivindicação 8, em que os elementos de comunicação então em alinhamento concêntrico.
- 12. A microcânula da reivindicação 3 ou o sistema da reivindicação 8, em que os elementos de comunicação estão em alinhamento paralelo.
- 13. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, em que a microcânula compósita proporciona uma maior rigidez axial e à flexão na extremidade proximal da microcânula em relação à extremidade distai da microcânula.
- 14. O sistema da reivindicação 7, em que a microcânula inclui um elemento de reforço ligado ao elemento de comunicação.
- 15. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 14, em que o elemento de reforço é maleável para permitir a modelação manual da microcânula.
- 16. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 14, em que o elemento de reforço compreende um metal. 3
- 17. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 14, em que o elemento de reforço compreende uma espiral.
- 18. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 14, em que o elemento de reforço afunila em direcção à extremidade distai da microcânula.
- 19. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 14, em que o elemento de comunicação e o elemento de reforço estão ligados por um invólucro exterior, em que o invólucro compreende, de preferência, um tubo termorretráctil.
- 20. O sistema da reivindicação 14, em que o elemento de comunicação e o elemento de reforço estão ligados com um adesivo.
- 21. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, em que o elemento de comunicação compreende um polímero flexível.
- 22. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, em que a microcânula compreende dois ou mais elementos de reforço.
- 23. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, em que o elemento de comunicação inclui um segmento escolhido do grupo composto por um segmento de tubulação, um segmento de fibra óptica e um segmento de um condutor eléctrico.
- 24. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, em que a microcânula está configurada para caber dentro de um espaço tecidular seleccionado do grupo 4 composto por: Canal de Schlemm, canal de um colector aquoso, veia aquosa, espaço supra-coroidiano e vaso sanguíneo retiniano do olho.
- 25. A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou da reivindicação 5 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, em que a extremidade distai tem uma ponta distai arredondada (12).
- 26. A microcânula ou sistema da reivindicação 25, em que a ponta distai arredondada actua para dispersar o sinal luminoso para uma visualização melhorada fora do eixo principal.
- 27. A microcânula ou sistema da reivindicação 25, em que o elemento de comunicação compreende uma fibra óptica capaz de fornecer luz à ponta arredondada e, em que, quando a luz é fornecida à referida ponta arredondada, esta actua para dispersar a luz para uma melhor visualização fora do eixo principal.

A microcânula da reivindicação 1 ou da reivindicação 5 ou o sistema da reivindicação 7, que compreende, adicionalmente, um revestimento lubrificante exterior. 29. 0 sistema da reivindicação 7, em que o líquido lubrificante é um líquido viscoelástico. 5 RESUMO Microcânula Oftálmica Compósita Microcânulas são construídas com múltiplos componentes num design compósito, permitindo que as microcânulas tenham propriedades mecânicas e de administração que permitirão que os tratamentos oftálmicos sejam feitos por meios minimamente invasivso. A microcânula inclui pelo menos um elemento tubular flexível de comunicação com um diâmetro externo de 350 microns ou menos, um conector proximal para introdução de materiais, energia ou ferramentas. Pode ainda incluir um membro de reforço anexado ao elemento de comunicação, o qual pode ser desenhado para criar rigidez variável ao longo do comprimento da microcânula.
