Abstract

En fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av partikkelformig, pigmentært titandi-oxyd omfatter at titantetrahalogenid som utgangsmateriale reageres i oppløs-ning med svovelsyre under dannelse av et titanylsulfatmellomprodukt. Mellom-produktet krystalliseres og utvinnes fra opplsningen og gjenoppløses i et vandig løsningsmiddelmedium og hydroly-seres ved forhøyet temperatur slik at det dannes et partikkelformig amorft titandioxydmellomprodukt. Dette blir efter at det er blitt skilt fra det vandige lsningsmiddelmedium, kalsinert ved forhyet temperatur slik at det ønskede partikkelformige titandioxyd-sluttprodukt blir dannet.
