Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører en fremgangsmåte for å fremstille en vandig silikabasert sol som omfatter å: (a) tilveiebringe en kationisk ionevekslerharpiks med minst en del av dens ionevekslingskapasitet i hydrogenform; (b) bringe ionevekslerharpiksen i kontakt med et vandig alkalimetallsilikat for å danne en vandig slurry; (c) omrøre den vandige slurryen inntil pH'en av den vandige fasen er i området fra 5,0 til 11,5; og/eller alternativt, omrøre den vandige slurryen for å tillate partikkelaggregering eller mikrogeldannelse tilsvarende en S-verdi opptil 45%, og oppnå en pH av den vandige fasen på minst 5,0; (d) justere pH av den vandige fasen til over 9,0 anvendende ett eller flere materialer omfattende minst én aluminiumforbindelse; og (e) separere ionevekslerharpiksen fra den vandige fasen etter trinn (c) eller etter trinn (d). Oppfinnelsen vedrører også en silikabasert sol med en S-verdi i området fra 15 til 25%, molforhold Si:Al i området fra 20:1 til 50:1, molforhold Si:X, der X = alkalimetall, i området fra 5:1 til 17:1, SiO2 innhold på minst 5 vekt% og inneholdende silikabaserte partikler med et spesifikt overflateareal på minst 300 m2/g. Videre vedrører oppfinnelsen en fremgangsmåte for å fremstille papir som omfatter å: (i) tilveiebringe en vandig suspensjon omfattende cellulosefibere; j) tilsette til suspensjonen én eller flere dreneringsmidler omfattende en silikabasert sol ifølge oppfinnelsen som definert heri; og (k) avvanne den oppnådde suspensjonen for å tilveiebringe et ark eller papirbane.
