Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for gjenvinning av svovel fra en sur gasstrøm er offentliggjort. Fremgangsmåten inkluderer et Claus-svovelgjenvinningstrinn i kombinasjon med et direktereduksjonsreaksjonstrinn og et biologisk svovelgjenvinningstrinn for å tilveiebringe en søt gasstrøm med en svært lav konsentrasjon av hydrogensulfid og svoveldioksid. Fremgangsmåten inkluderer reaksjon av en sur gasstrøm med oksygen under slike oksidasjonsbetingelser at det avgis en forbrenningsgass som omfatter hydrogensulfid og svoveldioksid. Forbrenningsgassen reagerer under Claus-reaksjonsbetingelser for å avgi en reaksjonsgass som omfatter svovel. Svovel gjenvinnes fra reaksjonsgassen for å avgi en Claus-restgass som omfatter hydrogensulfid og svoveldioksid. Direktereduksjonsrestgassen kontaktbehandles med en mager absorbent for derved fra restgassen å fjern en del av den hydrogensulfid som befinner seg deri, og for å avgi en søt gass og et rikt løsemiddel som omfatter oppløst hydrogensulfid. Det oppløste hydrogensulfid i det rike løsemiddel oksideres biologisk til elementært svovel ved kontaktbehandling av det rike løsemiddel med svovelbakterier under egnede biologiske oksidasjonsbetingelser.
