Abstract

Se describe un proceso para la remocion de impurezas primarias de hierro desde soluciones acuosas electroliticas utilizadas en la extraccion electrolitica del cobre. Se utiliza una resina de intercambio de iones de base fuerte Tipo 1 para remover acido desde la solucion resultante en la solucion tratada que contiene solamente un pequeno volumen del acido original pero todas las sales disueltas. Esta solucion tratada de acido bajo entonces es procesada utilizando procesos estandares tales como el ajuste del pH u oxidacion potencial para remover las impurezas de hierro y la solucion conteniendo cobalto valuable en el proceso es regresado a la solucion electrolitica para continuar con la extraccion de cobre.
