Abstract
Un catalizador para purificar gas de escape se hace depositando sobre un soportar iridio que sirve como una substancia activa del catalizador, azufre para mejorar la actividad del catalizador de iridio y, si es necesario, platino. El azufre preferiblemente está contenido como un sulfato. El proceso para purificar el gas de escape de la presente invencion es un proceso en el cual el gas de escape de un motor de combustion interna se deja pasar a través del catalizador de purificacion de gas de escape con la temperatura del gas de escape siendo establecida en la escala de 200 degree C a 700 degree C en la entrada del catalizador de purificacion del gas de escape. La composicion y proceso mencionados antes proveen una actividad para purificar des de escape, especialmente para eliminar oxido de nitrogeno en una atmosfera oxidativa, en una amplia escala de temperatura, permiten alta resistencia al calor y durabilidad, y consecuentemente, son superiores en uso práctico.
