Abstract

Se provee una tela no tejida que tiene una pluralidad de filamentos semicristalinos que se unen térmicamente entre sí y están formados del mismo polímero y exhiben sustancialmente la misma temperatura de fusión; la tela es producida por medio de hilatura por fusión de un polímero amorfo cristalizable para formar dos componentes que tienen diferentes grados de cristalinidad; durante la hilatura un primer componente del polímero es expuesto a condiciones que resultan en cristalización inducida por tensión, de tal manera que el primer componente de polímero está en un estado semicristalino y sirve como el componente de matriz o resistencia de la tela; el segundo componente de polímero no es sometido a cristalización inducida por tensión y por lo tanto permanece en un estado sustancialmente amorfo que se une bien a temperaturas relativamente bajas; en un paso de unión la tela se calienta para ablandar y fusionar el componente ligante; bajo estas condiciones el componente ligante experimenta cristalización térmica, de tal manera que en el producto final ambos componentes de polímero son semicristalinos.
