Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled fibers, containig butylene terephthalate as a principal component, and a polymer containing ethylene terephthalate as a principal component in an unoriented and amorphous state on the outer surface of the polymer in an oriented and crystallized state, and suitable for preparing a fibrous assembly, e.g. a non-woven fabric of a polyester.
CONSTITUTION: Undrawn composite spun fibers, consisting of olybutylene terephthalate polymer (A), containing 80mol% or more butylene terephthalate in an oriented and crystallized state, and polyethylene terephthalate polymer (B) in an unoriented and amorphous state, the polymer (B) occupying at least part of the outer surface of the fibers, and preferably of the sheath -core structure, at a composite weight ratio between the polymers (A) and (B) of (20/80)W(80/20), and having an elongation at break ≤250% and a dry shrinkage at 150W210°C ≤8%. The fibers are obtained by the composite spinning of the polymer (A) as a core and the polymer (B) as a sheath at a spinning speed of 1,000W 2,000m/min (in the undrawn state).
