Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled fiber that has a specific residual elongation, Young's modulus, boiling water shrinkage, dry heat shrinkage and others, thus permitting high efficient heat set, giving good touch as woven or knitted fabrics and being wound up as stable and uniform packages.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester containing more than 90mol% of polyethylene terephthalate units is wound up at a speed of higher than 5,000m/min under a tension of less than 20% to produce fibers having less than 60% residual elongation, (preferably 30W60%), 60W100g/d Young's modulus (preferably 70W90g/d), 4W10% boiling water shrinkage (preferably 5W8%), 5W12% dry heat shrinkage (preferably 6W10%) and less than 100°C stress peak temperature in the dry heat shrinkage- stress curve of the fiber.
