Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled novel-type fiber that is produced by spinning a combination of a specific polyester with a fluorine-containing polymer which is incompatible with the polyester and has a specific melt viscosity, thus reducing snap back and showing good gigging and good stretch-breaking in tow yarns.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polyester substantially consisting of ethylene terephthalate unit is combined with (B) a fluorine-containing polymer that is incompatible with component A and has more than 105 poise melt viscosity near at the melting point such as polytrifluorochloroethylene in a range from 1 to 12wt% and they are subjected to melt spinning to produce fiber of less than 4% snap back, which is shown by equationI[SB is snap back in %; eb is elongation at break in %; rb is elongation recovery at break in %; esb is elongation of the yarn in %]. Further, the modulus at break Mb given by formula II (Sb is the gradient of the stress-strain curve at break; Do is denier) is preferably 4g/de or less.
