Abstract

La presente invención proporciona métodos para fabricar propanal en una reacción que comprende el acoplamiento oxidativo de metano (OCM) y oxígeno como una corriente reactante en una reacción en fase gaseosa, preferentemente en presencia de agua o vapor, para formar etileno, etano, dióxido de carbono (CO2), agua y gas de síntesis (CO y H2) en un primer reactor como una corriente de etileno, y formando después propanal en un segundo reactor mediante la alimentación al segundo reactor de la corriente de etileno con el gas de síntesis del primer reactor en fase gaseosa y la hidroformilación en presencia de un catalizador para una reacción de desplazamiento de agua. En él método, la relación de H2 con respecto a CO en el gas de síntesis se mantiene tanto por la coalimentación de vapor en el primer reactor o en el segundo reactor para generar H2 adicional en el gas de síntesis, o mediante la formación de CO en el segundo reactor de la reacción de desplazamiento de agua por la alimentación de CO2 de la corriente de etileno en el segundo reactor.
