Abstract
Un dispositivo multi-electrodo que incluye un electrodo de ánodo, un electrodo de cátodo y un electrodo de compuerta colocado entre el ánodo y el cátodo, y que tiene un electrolito. El dispositivo multi-electrodo puede ser una celda electroquímica secundaria (recargable). El electrodo de compuerta es permeable a al menos una especie móvil que se redox-activa en al menos uno del ánodo y el cátodo. El electrodo de compuerta tiene una resistencia que es menor que aquella de una característica morfológica no uniforme, conductora que puede crecer sobre el ánodo. El electrodo de compuerta proporciona la capacidad de evitar, reconocer y remover la presencia de estas características morfológicas no uniformes, y proporciona un electrodo eléctrico que se puede utilizar para remover estas características morfológicas no uniformes.
