Abstract

La presente invención proporciona una composición oftálmica que comprende un poliéster hiperramificado. Las composiciones oftálmicas también pueden comprender inhibidores de anhidrasa carbónica, en donde el poliéster hiperramificado aumenta la solubilidad acuosa del inhibidor de anhidrasa carbónica, y aumenta la penetración córnea del agente activo. Las composiciones oftálmicas también pueden comprender agentes tensoactivos no iónicos, tales como PEG, polisorbato, HPMC o HEC, y beta-bloqueadores, tales como Carteolol, Levobunolol, Betaxolol, Metipranolol, Timolol o Propranolol. La concentración del poliéster hiperramificado en la formulación oftálmica no debe ser menor que o igual a 4% (p/v) con el fin de evitar cualquier efecto citotóxico en células córneas humanas y de esta forma la irritación del ojo.
