Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un cuerpo de carburo cementado formado sinterizando una mezcla esencialmente homogénea de constituyentes que comprende: por lo menos 70 por ciento en peso de carburo de tungsteno; un aglutinante metálico; un carburo de metal que se selecciona del grupo que consiste de los carburos de metal de transición del grupo IVB y VB; el carburo de metal está presente en una cantidad menor que la cantidad del carburo de tungsteno; el cuerpo tiene [porosidad esencialmente del tipo A a B] tamaño de poro menores de aproximadamente 40 micrones a través del cuerpo; el carburo de metal se combina con el carburo de tungsteno formando un carburo en solución sólido; una primera capa de aglutinante enriquecida y un material agotado de carburo en solución por lo menos parcialmente sólido que comienza en y que se extiende hacia adentro desde una superficie periférica del cuerpo.
