Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir un catalizador a partir de arcilla natural para usarse en la hidrodesmetalización e hidroconversion de crudos pesados que comprende las etapas de: proporcionar una arcilla natural: triturar y moler la arcilla natural hasta un tamaño de partícula comprendido entre 20 y 400 mallas; tratar arcilla molida y clasificada por tamaño en un baño de ácido a una temperatura comprendida entre 70 y 140 grados C durante entre 20 y 180 minutos, de tal forma como para modificar las propiedades de composición química y textura de la arcilla; lavar la arcilla tratada con agua; parcialmente secar la arcilla lavada de tal manera como para reducir el contenido de agua de la misma hasta entre 20 y 40 por ciento por peso, con lo que se obtiene la plasticidad necesaria para la extrusión de la arcilla; mezclar la arcilla parcialmente hidratada con entre 5 y 40 por ciento por peso de una sustancia formadora de poro; extruir la arcilla con la sustancia formadora de poro de tal manera como para formar un extruído; y secar el extruído a una temperatura de entre 300 y 800 grados C durante entre 1 y 8 horas.
