Abstract

자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법에 있어서, 공기 베어링 표면을 형성하기 위하여 슬라이더를 래핑하는 단계와, 공기 베어링 표면상에 선택된 레일 패턴을 생성하는 단계와, 래핑 및 레일 형성 단계에서 슬라이더에 형성된 왜곡을 제거하기 위해 슬라이더의 후면(back side)상에 선택된 응력 패턴을 생성하는 단계를 포함한다.
응력 패턴은 상기 슬라이더에 대해 원하는 크라운과 캠버의 범위를 생성하도록 선택될 수 있다.

Claims (7)

  1. 자기 헤드 슬라이더(a magnetic head slider)의 제조방법에 있어서, 공기 베어링 표면을 생성하기 위해서 사전 결정된 치수로 상기 슬라이더의 제1표면을 래핑하는 단계와, 상기 슬라이더의 상기 제1표면상에 선택된 레일 패텬(a chosen pattern of rails)을 생성하는 단계와, 상기 슬라이더에 대해 선택된 크라운과 캠버 특성(a chosen crown and and camber chracteristic)을 생성하기 위해서 상기 제1 표면에 반대되는 상기 슬라이더의 표면상에 선택된 응력 패턴(a chosen pattern of stress)을 생성하는 단게를 포함하고 있는 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 선택된 응력 패턴은 상기 제1표면에 반대되는 상기 표면으로 부터의 선택적인 물질제거(ablation)에 의해 생성되는 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 선택적인 물질 제거는 레이저에 의해 생성되는 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 선택적인 물질 제거는 마이크로 샌드 블래스팅(microsand blasting)에 의해 생성되는 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 선택된 응력 패턴은 크라운과 캠버의 변화의 선행 측정에 응답하여 생성되는 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 선택된 응력 패턴은 상기 응력이 생길 때 크라운과 캠버의 변화를 측정한 것에 응답하여 생성되는 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 상기 선택된 응력 패턴은 압축 응력(compressive stress)인 자기 헤드 슬라이더의 제조방법.
