Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a product, excellent in decorative value, having patterns of various shapes letters and symbols, by applying laser rays on the surface of a decorative material to cause change in color to form patterns.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a member made of synthetic resin, wood, bamboo or metal for glasses frame, watch or other various ornamental articles is heated by applying CO2 gas laser, YAG solid laser or the like. Here, the patterns thus formed, include points 2 of desired size formed on a member, by taking advantage of ability of laser rays to converge on a spot and lines 3 formed on a member 1 through linear scanning of laser rays. In addition, a wide range of patterns including letters and symbols can be formed in combination of points and lines by scanning laser rays according to pattern shapes. The decorative members thus obtained are free from change in color and the like and excellent in durability and decorative value
