Claims (6)
- 배기가스의 후처리시스템이 기관배기통로 내에 배치되고, 배기가스 내의 유해성분을 처리하기 위한 후처리용 연료가 상기 후처리시스템에 공급되며, 후처리용 연료를 공급하는 방법이 미리 설정된 내연기관에 있어서,상기 후처리시스템은 상기 배기통로 내에 직렬로 배치된 복수의 배기정화촉매를 구비하고, 여하한의 촉매가 소정의 열화도(degree of degradation)를 초과하는 열화도를 갖는 경우, 상기 후처리용 연료를 공급하는 방법은, 상기 배기가스의 정화에 필요한 후처리용 연료가 최저 열화도를 갖는 촉매 안으로 공급될 수 있어, 상기 최저 열화도를 갖는 촉매가 상기 배기가스의 정화 작용을 처리하도록 재설정되는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 기관배기통로 내에 직렬로 배치된 복수의 촉매는, 유입되는 배기가스의 공연비가 린(lean)인 경우에는 상기 배기가스 내에 함유된 NOx를 흡장하고, 상기 유입되는 배기가스의 공연비가 이론 공연비 또는 리치(rich)가 되는 경우에는 상기 흡장된 NOx를 방출하는 NOx 흡장/환원촉매로 이루어지고, 상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매가 NOx를 방출하도록 상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매 안으로 흐르는 상기 배기가스의 공연비를 리치로 만들 때, 최상류측에 위치한 상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매 상류의 배기통로에 또는 연소실에 후처리용 연료가 공급되고, 이 때 최저 열화도를 갖는 촉매가 더 욱 하류에 위치할 수록, 상기 배기가스의 공연비의 리치도가 더욱 높아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제2항에 있어서,상기 배기가스의 공연비의 리치도를 높일 때, 상기 공연비의 리치 시간은 더욱 짧아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제2항에 있어서,상기 배기가스의 공연비의 리치도를 높일 때, 상기 공연비가 리치가 되는 간격들이 더욱 길어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제2항에 있어서,상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매들 모두의 열화도가 소정의 열화도를 초과하고, 상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매만이 선택환원촉매로서의 기능을 하는 경우, 상기 배기가스의 공연비가 린 범위 내에서 유지되는 상태로, 상기 최상류측에 위치한 상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매 상류의 배기통로에 또는 연소실에 후처리용 연료가 공급되는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제2항에 있어서,상기 최상류측에 위치한 상기 NOx 흡장/환원촉매 상류의 배기통로는 그 안에 배치된 배기가스 내에 SOx를 포획할 수 있는 SOx 포획 촉매를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
