Description
図1を参照すると、1は機関本体、2は各気筒の燃焼室、3は各燃焼室2内に夫々燃料を噴射するための電子制御式燃料噴射弁、4は吸気マニホルド、5は排気マニホルドを夫々示す。吸気マニホルド4は吸気ダクト6を介して排気ターボチャージャ7のコンプレッサ7aの出口に連結され、コンプレッサ7aの入口はエアクリーナ8に連結される。吸気ダクト6内にはステップモータにより駆動されるスロットル弁9が配置され、更に吸気ダクト6周りには吸気ダクト6内を流れる吸入空気を冷却するための冷却装置10が配置される。図1に示される実施例では機関冷却水が冷却装置10内に導かれ、機関冷却水によって吸入空気が冷却される。
図13はNOx吸蔵還元触媒12,13に吸蔵されたNOx量ΣNOXの変化と、NOx放出のために燃料を添加して排気ガスの空燃比A/Fをリッチにするタイミングを示している。機関から単位時間当りに排出されるNOx量は機関の運転状態に応じて変化し、従って単位時間当りにNOx吸蔵還元触媒12,13内に吸蔵されるNOx量も機関の運転状態に応じて変化する。本発明による実施例ではNOx吸蔵還元触媒12,13に単位時間当り吸蔵されるNOx量NOXAが要求トルクTQおよび機関回転数Nの関数として図14に示すマップの形で予めROM32内に記憶されており、このNOx量NOXAを積算することによってNOx吸蔵還元触媒12,13に吸蔵されたNOx量ΣNOXが算出される。
図13を参照するとまず初めにステップ100において図14に示すマップから単位時間当り吸蔵されるNOx量NOXAが算出される。次いでステップ101ではこのNOXAがNOx吸蔵還元触媒12、13に吸蔵されているNOx量ΣNOXに加算される。次いでステップ102では吸蔵NOx量ΣNOXが許容値NXを越えたか否かが判別され、ΣNOX>NXとなったときにはステップ103に進んで燃料添加弁14からの燃料添加処理が行われる。次いでステップ104では差圧センサ21によりパティキュレートフィルタ13aの前後差圧ΔPが検出される。次いでステップ105では差圧ΔPが許容値PXを越えたか否かが判別され、ΔP>PXとなったときにはステップ106に進んでパティキュレートフィルタ13aの昇温制御が行われる。

Claims (4)
- 機関排気通路内に燃料を微粒化された液滴の形で添加する燃料添加装置を配置し、燃料添加装置下流の機関排気通路内に、流入する排気ガスの空燃比がリーンのときには排気ガス中に含まれるNOxを吸蔵し流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比又はリッチになると吸蔵したNOxを放出するNOx吸蔵還元触媒を配置し、NOx吸蔵還元触媒からNOxを放出するためにNOx吸蔵還元触媒に流入する排気ガスの空燃比をリッチにするときには燃料添加装置から燃料を添加すると共にこのとき添加された燃料が液滴の形でNOx吸蔵還元触媒上に付着する内燃機関において、上記NOx吸蔵還元触媒が直列配置された複数のNOx吸蔵還元触媒からなり、液滴の形でNOx吸蔵還元触媒上に付着した燃料を気化させるために少くとも下流側に配置されたNOx吸蔵還元触媒上に貴金属として白金Ptに加えパラジウムPdを担持させると共に、この下流側に配置されたNOx吸蔵還元触媒上に担持されている白金PtとパラジウムPdとの和に対する白金Ptのモル比率がほぼ50パーセントからほぼ80パーセントの間に設定されており、該白金Ptのモル比率を上流側に位置するNOx吸蔵還元触媒ほど大きくするようにした内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記下流側に配置されたNOx吸蔵還元触媒における該白金Ptのモル比率がほぼ58パーセントからほぼ75パーセントの間に設定されている請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上流側に配置されたNOx吸蔵還元触媒における該白金Ptのモル比率が100パーセントである請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記下流側に配置されたNOx吸蔵還元触媒がパティキュレートフィルタ上に担持されている請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
