Abstract

문서 내 엘리먼트와 데이터베이스 내 대응 필드, 질의, 프로시져와의 링크{LINKING ELEMENTS OF A DOCUMENT TO CORRESPONDING FIELDS, QUERIES AND/OR PROCEDURES IN A DATABASE}
본 발명은 일반적으로 컴퓨터-생성형 문서(computer-generated document) 내 구성 요소를 데이터베이스 내 대응 데이터에 링크하는 방법 및 시스템에 관한 것이다.
컴퓨터 소프트웨어 애플리케이션은 사용자가 작업, 교육, 및 레저 분야에서 자신에게 도움이 되는 다양한 문서들을 생성할 수 있게 한다. 예컨대, 워드 프로세싱 애플리케이션은 사용자가 서신, 기사, 책, 메모 등을 생성할 수 있게 한다. 스프레드시트 애플리케이션은 사용자가 다양한 문자 숫자식 데이터를 저장하고, 조작하고, 프린트하고, 디스플레이할 수 있게 한다. 그와 같은 애플리케이션들은 리치 에디팅(rich editing), 포매팅(formatting) 및 계산 등을 포함한 주지의 많은능력을 갖추고 있다.
현대식 데이터베이스의 출현과 더불어, 사용자는 여러 다양한 주제에 연관된 많은 양의 데이터를 축적하여 조작할 수 있게 되었다. 종종, 데이터베이스는 사용자의 컴퓨터 상에 저장되지만, 원격 인터넷-기반형 서버 등의 원격 서버 상에 저장될 수도 있다. 때때로 많은 사용자들이 공통된 하나의 데이터베이스에 액세스하여 그 사용자 각자가 데이터베이스에 데이터를 부가하고 그 데이터베이스 내의 데이터를 삭제하고 그 데이터베이스 내의 데이터를 조작할 수 있다. 예컨대, 많은 사용자들이 새로운 타입의 컴퓨터 소프트웨어를 위한 명세(specification)를 개발하는 프로젝트 팀을 구성하고 있는 경우, 사용자 각자는 주어진 데이터베이스 상에 포함된 공유 문서 라이브러리에 대한 액세스 기회를 부여받을 수 있다. 따라서, 제 1 사용자가 그 명세 내에 포함된 데이터 섹션을 변경한 경우, 그러한 변경은 데이터베이스 상에서 갱신될 것이고 다른 사용자들에 의하여 액세스 가능할 것이다. 이어서, 또 다른 허가받은 사용자가 그 데이터베이스에 대한 액세스 기회를 얻어 제 1 사용자에 의하여 이루어진 변경을 발견하고 부가적 변경 또는 갱신을 가할 수 있다. 따라서, 사용자 각자가 데이터베이스 내에 포함되어 관리되는 데이터를 공동 방식으로 개발하고 제공할 수 있다.
종종, 일인 또는 일군의 사용자는 주어진 데이터베이스에서 데이터를 모아 그 데이터를 다른 사람에게 그 데이터를 보여주기 위하여 서신, 메모, 기사, 스프레드시트, 기타 문서로 만들어야 한다. 전술한 예에 이어서, 소프트웨어 개발 팀의 구성원들은 프로젝트 중 여러 시점에서 그 공유 데이터베이스 내에 포함된 데이터를 모아 그 새로운 소프트웨어의 장래 사용자 또는 그 프로젝트의 검토자에게 보여주기 위한 명세 문서 등 하나의 문서를 만들도록 요청받을 수 있다. 불행히도, 그 문서가 일단 작성되면, 그 문서는 문서 작성 바로 전에 존재했던 바대로 데이터베이스에서 모아진 데이터의 정적 표시(static presentation)가 된다. 문서의 초안이 작성된 후 프로젝트 팀 구성원이 데이터베이스 내의 데이터를 갱신한 경우, 그 문서는 그 문서가 근거하였던 데이터에 대한 변경을 반영하도록 수동으로 갱신되어야 한다. 마찬가지로, 문서 작성 동안, 구성원이 문서 내에 포함된 데이터에 변경을 가한 경우, 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터는 그 데이터베이스에 포함된 데이터에는 반영되지 않고서 그 문서에 대해서만 이루어진 변경을 반영하도록 수동으로 갱신되어야 한다.
따라서, 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터에 대한 갱신이 문서의 대응 부분을 자동으로 갱신하고, 그 문서 각 부분에 대한 갱신이 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터를 자동으로 갱신하도록 문서 콘텐츠의 각 부분을 데이터베이스 내의 대응 필드나 질의에 매핑하고 링크하는 방법 및 시스템이 필요로 된다. 이러한 점 및 기타 고려 사항을 참작하여 본 발명이 이루어졌다.
본 발명의 실시예는 문서 내 구성 요소를 데이터베이스 내 대응 필드나 질의에 매핑하고 링크하는 방법 및 시스템을 제공한다. 워드 프로세싱 문서나 스프레드시트 문서 등의 컴퓨터-생성형 문서의 사용자는 문서의 여러 부분을 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터와 연관시킨다. 본 발명의 일특징에 따르면, 문서는 그 문서의 각 부분을 데이터베이스 내 대응 데이터에 매핑하기 위하여 마크업 언어, 예컨대 XML 구조적 엘리먼트(structural element)로 주석 첨가된다. 문서가 XML 구조로 마크업되는 경우, 그 문서를 위한 데이터 타입, 데이터 구조 및 XML 엘리먼트 규칙을 설정하기 위한 XML 스키마가 그 문서에 첨부되거나 또는 그 문서에 연관되어 사용자는 선택된 스키마에 충실한 적절한 XML 구조로 문서에 주석을 첨가할 수 있게 된다. 이와 달리, 사용자는 이미 XML 구조 주석을 포함하고 있고 이미 XML 스키마와 연관되어 있는 문서를 이용할 수도 있다.
문서가 하나 이상의 엘리먼트로 조직화된 이후, 그 문서와의 연관을 위하여 데이터베이스가 선택된다. 데이터베이스를 선택하는 과정은 그 데이터베이스 내에 포함된 문서 라이브러리 내에서 그 문서에 연관된 특정 테이블을 선택하는 단계를 포함한다. 문서와의 연관을 위하여 데이터베이스 내에서 특정 테이블이 선택되고 나면, 그 문서 내의 개별 엘리먼트가 그 선택된 테이블 내의 대응 데이터 필드나 질의에 매핑된다. 질의는 SQL 등의 데이터베이스 언어로 작성된 프로그램으로 표현될 수 있다. 질의는 저장형 프로시저를 이용하여 표현될 수 있고, 그러한 경우 문서 내 엘리먼트가 데이터베이스 내의 특정 저장형 프로시저로 매핑될 수 있다. 문서 내의 개별 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스에서 선택된 테이블 내의 대응 데이터 필드나 질의에 매핑시키는 과정은 문서에 고유의 문서 식별자를 제공하여 개별 엘리먼트 각각을 그 선택된 테이블이나 저장형 프로시저 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의, 또는 프로시저에 링크(데이터 전송 및 수신을 위한 링크)하는 과정을 포함한다. 마찬가지로, 고유의 식별자가 그 선택된 데이터 필드, 질의 또는 저장형 프로시저에 제공되어 개별 데이터 필드, 질의 또는 프로시저를 문서 내 대응 엘리먼트에 링크할 수 있다.
문서 내 개별 엘리먼트들이 그 선택된 테이블 또는 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터에 매핑되고 링크되면, 문서 내의 개별 엘리먼트에 대해 이루어지는 변경은 그 엘리먼트가 매핑되고 링크된 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 대한 갱신을 자동으로 야기한다. 문서 엘리먼트가 그 엘리먼트에 데이터를 제공하는 질의와 링크된 경우, 문서와 데이터베이스 간 양방향 링크(two-way link)를 유지하기 위하여, 일반적으로 그 문서 엘리먼트는 또한 문서 내 엘리먼트의 콘텐츠로 데이터베이스를 갱신할 수 있는 적절한 갱신 질의에 링크될 것이다. 반대로, 선택된 데이터베이스 테이블 내의 개별 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 대해 이루어지는 변경은 문서 내 대응 엘리먼트를 자동으로 갱신한다. 문서 엘리먼트가 질의에 링크되어 있다면, 문서 내 엘리먼트는 그 데이터를 새로 변경할 경우 최신 결과 세트를 위하여 연관된 질의를 호출할 것이다.

동작 환경

운영 체제(35), 하나 이상의 애플리케이션 프로그램(100), 워드 프로세서 프로그램 모듈(37)(또는 기타 유형의 프로그램 모듈), 적하 목록(manifest)(38) 등의 프로그램 데이터, 및 기타 프로그램 모듈(도시되지 않음)을 포함한 많은 수의 프로그램 모듈이 드라이브 및 RAM(25)에 저장될 수 있다.

LAN 네트워크 환경에서 이용되는 경우, 개인용 컴퓨터(20)는 네트워크 인터페이스(53)를 통하여 LAN(51)으로 연결된다. 동작
도 2는 문서 내 개별 엘리먼트가 데이터베이스 내 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 매핑되고 링크된 경우 그 문서와 데이터베이스간 상호 작용을 간단하게 도시한 블록도이다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따르면, 사용자가 문서 내 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스 내 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저와 연관시킨다. 도 2에 도시된 바에 따르면, 문서 내 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스(205) 내에 포함된 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 링크하는 예시적 문서(210)가 도시되어 있다. 당업자라면 분명히 알아야 하는 것처럼, 문서(210)는 워드 프로세서 애플리케이션, 스프레드시트 애플리케이션, 웹 브라우저 애플리케이션 등을 포함한 다양한 소프트웨어 애플리케이션에 의하여 생성되고 이용될 수 있는 문서의 예이다. 단지 예로써, 문서(210)는 사용자가 타이틀(title)(212) 및 학력(education) 섹션(213)을 포함한 이력서를 작성하는 워드 프로세싱 문서의 예이다. 당업자라면 분명히 알아야 하는 것처럼, 도 2에 도시된 텍스트는 단지 예를 위한 것일 뿐이며,문서에 입력되는 데이터는 그 문서를 생성하는 소프트웨어 애플리케이션에 의하여 허용 가능한 문자 숫자식 텍스트 및 이미지를 포함한 임의 유형의 포맷일 수 있다.
문서(210) 내 엘리먼트를 규정하고 그러한 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스(205) 내 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 매핑 및 링크시키기 위하여, 문서(210) 내 엘리먼트는 그 엘리먼트가 식별될 수 있고 데이터베이스(205) 내 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 포인팅되도록 구조적으로 주석 첨가된다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, XML 등의 마크업 언어(markup language)를 이용하여 구조적 주석이 문서(210)에 제공된다. 문서(210)에 도시된 바와 같이, XML 엘리먼트 <타이틀> 엘리먼트가 그 문서의 타이틀 섹션(212)을 위한 구조를 제공하기 위하여 그 문서에 적용되고 <학력> 엘리먼트(215)가 그 문서의 학력 섹션(213)에 대한 구조를 제공하기 위하여 적용된다.
문서에 고유 ID 번호를 제공하고 그 고유의 문서 ID를 데이터베이스 내 소정 테이블 내의 소정 레코드와 연관시킴으로써 문서 엘리먼트는 데이터베이스 내 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 링크되고 매핑된다. 따라서, 문서 내의 대응 데이터가 변경되는 경우 데이터베이스 내에서 정확한 레코드가 검색될 수 있고 데이터베이스 내의 대응 레코드가 변경된 경우 문서 내에서 정확한 엘리먼트가 검색될 수 있다. 고유의 ID 번호가 문서에 저장됨이 바람직하다.
문서에 포함될 수 있는 데이터의 타입과 구조를 규제하는 문법 규칙 세트를 문서에 제공하기 위하여, 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 사용자가 문서에 주석을 첨가할 수 있는 XML 엘리먼트 각각을 규제하는 규칙을 제공하도록 XML 스키마가 그 문서에 첨부되거나 그 문서와 연관된다. 예컨대, 이력서 문서는 <타이틀>, <학력>, <경력사항>, <인적 사항> 등의 허용 가능한 XML 엘리먼트 세트를 제공하기 위한 '이력서-스키마.xsd' 등의 첨부형 또는 연관형 스키마 파일(230)을 포함할 수 있다. 스키마 파일은 이들 엘리먼트가 문서에 적용되는 순서를 규제하는 규칙과 그 문서에 적용되는 개별 엘리먼트와 연관된 특정 규칙을 포함한다. 예컨대, 도 2에 도시된, 이력서 문서에 첨부되거나 그에 연관된 스키마는 <학력> 엘리먼트와 연관된 데이터로서 대학이나 대학교 명칭과 뒤이어 그 대학이나 대학교의 주소를 포함해야 한다고 규정할 수 있다.
당업자라면 분명히 알아야 하는 것처럼, XML 스키마 파일의 개발자는 XML 엘리먼트의 명칭과 그 엘리먼트에 허용되는 연관 데이터 타입 및 데이터 구조를 결정한다. 그런 다음, 주어진 스키마 파일(230)에 따른 XML 구조로 주석이 첨가된 문서의 모든 사용자들은 그 문서의 전체적 타입과 구조를 고려하지 않고서 XML 구조 내에 포함된 데이터를 이용할 수 있다. 예컨대, 도 2에 도시된 이력서 문서가 장래의 고용주에게 송신되면, 그 장래의 고용주는 특정 유형의 데이터를 그 장래 고용주가 이용하기 위한 문서 내에 배치하도록 문서를 파싱(parsing)하는 소프트웨어 애플리케이션을 개발할 수 있다. 예컨대, 장래의 고용주는 장래의 종업원이 졸업한 대학 및 대학교에 관한 데이터베이스를 생성하기 원할 수 있다. 문서에 첨부된 스키마 파일(230)을 이용하는 경우, 그 장래의 고용주는 <학력> 엘리먼트에 연관된 데이터가 그 문서를 규제하는 스키마 파일에 따라 생성되었음을 알 것이다. 따라서, 장래의 고용주는 <학력> 엘리먼트를 배치하고 그와 연관된 데이터를 검출하여장래 고용주의 데이터베이스로 삽입하는 소프트웨어 애플리케이션을 개발할 수 있다. 앞서 설명한 바와 같이, 예컨대 <학력> 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스 내 학력 레코드와 링크하기 위하여, 문서 및 그 엘리먼트들을 데이터베이스 내의 대응 레코드와 연관시키도록 고유의 ID 번호가 문서 내에 저장되어야 한다.
이러한 예에 따르면, 장래의 고용주는 문서의 다른 특성, 예컨대 타이틀 섹션 내에 포함된 데이터와 그 위치 등을 고려하지 않고서 이러한 데이터를 검출할 수 있다. 이는 각 문서 사용자가 그 문서에 첨부되거나 그 문서와 연관된 스키마 파일에서 규정되는 데이터 타입 및 데이터 구조 규칙을 따른다는 사실에 의하여 가능하게 된다. 스키마 파일(230)은 그 문서에 첨부될 수도 있고, 또는 별도의 위치, 예컨대 그 문서에 의하여 액세스 가능한 스키마 파일 라이브러리 등에 보관될 수도 있다. 즉, 문서는 그 문서의 XML 구조를 규제하는 문서 규칙을 제공하는 스키마 파일(230)을 배치 및/또는 식별하기 위한 파일 경로 포인터나 고유의 명칭 공간 식별자(예컨대, URI 또는 URN)를 포함할 수 있다.
앞서 간단히 설명한 바와 같이, 문서의 엘리먼트, 예컨대 <타이틀> 및 <학력> 엘리먼트가 데이터베이스(205) 내의 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 링크되어 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에서 갱신된 정보가 문서 내의 대응 엘리먼트에 포함되는 데이터를 자동으로 갱신할 것이며, 후술하는 바와 같이 그 역의 경우도 마찬가지이다.
데이터베이스에 대한 갱신은 다양한 질의를 통하여, 예컨대 SQL을 이용해서 이루어질 수 있으며, 이는 데이터베이스 내의 여러 필드 및 테이블에 영향을 미친다. 문서 내의 데이터는 개별 데이터 필드에서 직접적으로 유래하는 것뿐만 아니라 다양한 선택 기준에 근거하여 데이터베이스 내의 많은 필드 및/또는 테이블로부터 정보를 모으는 질의의 결과에서 유래할 수도 있다. 또한, 당업자라면 분명히 알아야 하는 것처럼, 많은 데이터베이스는 그 데이터베이스에 데이터를 기록하고 그 데이터베이스에서 데이터를 검출하며 그 데이터베이스 내의 데이터를 조작하기 위하여 그 데이터베이스에 대한 명령을 실행하는 프로그램인 저장형 프로시저의 이용을 지원할 수 있다.
데이터 필드를 문서 내 엘리먼트에 연관시킴에 더하여, 질의 및 저장형 프로시저가 문서 내 엘리먼트와 연관될 수 있다. 엘리먼트와 질의간의 링크가 단방향(판독만)이 아닌 양방향(판독-기록)이 되도록 각 엘리먼트마다 두 가지 유형의 질의가 생성될 수 있다. 데이터베이스로부터 데이터를 판독하는 오직 하나의 질의만이 제공된다면, 데이터에 대한 변경은 데이터베이스 내에서만 이루어져 문서는 그러한 변경을 단지 판독만 할 수 있을 것이다. 반면, 문서 내의 데이터에 근거하여 데이터베이스를 갱신하는 오직 하나의 질의만이 제공된다면, 오직 문서가 변경되어야 데이터베이스를 갱신할 수 있다. 한 가지 질의는 데이터베이스로부터 데이터를 판독하기 위한 것이고 다른 한 가지 질의는 데이터베이스에 기록하기 위한 것인 두 가지 질의가 제공되는 경우 양방향 링크가 생성된다. 따라서, 문서 또는 데이터베이스가 갱신되면 다른 쪽은 자동으로 그 갱신을 이어받을 것이다. 일부 실시예에서는, 단방향 링크만을 갖는 것이 바람직할 수 있다. 예컨대, 데이터베이스 관리가 특정 데이터 필드에 대한 변경은 문서 갱신에 의해서가 아니라 데이터베이스 갱신에 의해서만 이루어질 수 있을 것을 선호할 수 있다. 그러한 경우 데이터베이스에 관한 최신 정보를 포함하는 문서를 유지하기 위하여 데이터베이스에서 최신의 데이터를 판독하는 질의만이 필요할 것이다.
예컨대, 사용자가 특허 출원을 해야하는 특허 대리인이라고 가정해본다. 그가 속한 회사에서 각 특허 출원은 고유의 문서 ID 번호를 할당받는다. 또한 그가 속한 회사가 특허 대리인 이름과 각 대리인에게 할당된 특허 출원간 관련을 저장한 데이터베이스를 이용한다고 가정한다. 그가 특정한 특허 출원 문서를 할당받으면, 데이터베이스는 주어진 데이터베이스 테이블 내의 해당 데이터 레코드에 그의 이름과 문서 ID를 저장함으로써 그를 그 특허 출원 문서의 오너로서 식별하게 하는 레코드를 포함한다. 이들 정보가 데이터베이스에 저장됨에 더하여, 출원 문서 자체의 포맷이 문서 ID와 대리인 이름이 그 안에 나타날 것을 필요로 한다. 본 발명에 의하지 않으면, 대리인 이름이 데이터베이스로 입력될 것이고, 데이터베이스에서 대리인 이름이 변경되면(예컨대, 출원이 회사 내 다른 대리인에게 재할당된 경우), 새로운 대리인 이름을 이전 대리인 이름과 교체하기 위하여 그 출원 문서는 수동으로 편집되어야 할 것이다.
본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터와의 적절한 연관성을 문서에 삽입하기 위한 수단이 제공되어, 주어진 데이터베이스 테이블 내의 대응 데이터 레코드가 변경되는 경우(예컨대, 상이한 대리인이 출원 문서를 할당받은 경우), 그 문서가 자동으로 그러한 변경을 반영하여 문서 내에 나타내는 대리인 이름을 갱신할 것이다. 연관성이 '양방향'인 경우, 즉 문서가 데이터베이스를 갱신하도록 하는 방법도 지정된 경우, 대리인 이름이 문서 내에서 변경될 수 있고 그 변경이 데이터베이스 내에서 갱신될 것이다. 문서 내의 대리인 이름을 적절한 마크업 엘리먼트(예컨대, XML이 이용된다면 <대리인 이름>)로 표시하고 그 엘리먼트와 데이터베이스 내 적절한 질의(예컨대, 데이터베이스로부터의 판독을 위한 '현재 대리인 이름 판독'이라 불리는 데이터베이스 내 저장형 프로시저와 그 데이터베이스로의 기록을 위한 '현재 대리인 이름 설정'이라 불리는 또 다른 프로시저로 표시됨)간 매핑을 지정함으로써 '양방향' 연관 즉 양방향 통신이 이루어진다. 이러한 연관 자체는 문서 내에 저장되거나 또는 그 문서와 연관된 프로그램 모듈의 일부에 저장될 수 있다.
데이터베이스(205)에서, 문서(210) 내에 포함되는 규정형 엘리먼트에 대응하는 데이터 필드, 질의, 및/또는 프로시저가 그 규정형 엘리먼트와 연관된 데이터를 수신하고, 저장하고, 정렬하고, 보유하기 위하여 생성될 수 있다. 예컨대, 도 2에 도시된 이력서 문서(210)의 사용자는 이력서 문서(210)의 학력 섹션(213)에 배치될 데이터를 보유하는 그 <학력> 엘리먼트(215)와 연관된 데이터 필드를 포함하는 데이터베이스 레코드를 데이터베이스(205) 내에 작성할 수 있다. 분명히 알아야 하는 바와 같이, 데이터베이스는 데이터의 다양한 논리적 관계에 따라 조직될 수 있다. 특정 데이터, 질의, 또는 프로시저가 특정 필드에 저장될 수 있다. 문서와 연관된 필드의 모음이 데이터베이스 레코드로 집합될 수 있다. 데이터베이스 테이블은 같은 부류의 문서와 연관된 많은 수의 레코드를 포함할 수 있다.
대응 데이터 필드가 데이터베이스(205) 내에 형성되면, 전술한 고유의 문서ID가 그 문서(210)에 기록되고 <학력> 엘리먼트가 그 <학력> 엘리먼트를 위한 데이터를 갖는 데이터 필드를 포함하는 데이터베이스(205) 내 대응 레코드를 포인팅하도록 <학력> 엘리먼트와 연관된다. 마찬가지로, 고유의 문서 ID가 이용되어 학력 데이터를 포함하는 데이터 필드를 다시 문서(210)의 <학력> 엘리먼트로 링크시킨다. 따라서, 특정 파일에 대응한 데이터베이스(205) 레코드의 학력 필드 내 데이터가 갱신되는 경우, 이력서 문서(210)의 학력 섹션(213) 내에 포함된 데이터가 자동으로 갱신된다. 반대로, 사용자가 문서(210)의 학력 섹션(213) 내에 포함된 데이터를 변경한 경우, 이러한 변경은 자동으로 데이터베이스(205) 내 적절한 레코드의 학력 데이터 필드로 전달되어 그에 포함된 데이터를 갱신한다.
당업자라면 알아야 하는 것처럼, 데이터베이스나 문서 중 어느 한쪽에서 데이터가 변경되는 경우 대응 데이터 필드에 대한 갱신 또는 대응 문서 엘리먼트에 대한 갱신을 요청하도록 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저를 호출하거나 대응 문서 엘리먼트를 호출하기 위하여 소프트웨어 애플리케이션 프로그램 모듈이 문서 소프트웨어 애플리케이션 및 데이터베이스 소프트웨어 애플리케이션 양자 모두에 기록될 수 있다. 문서 엘리먼트와 대응 데이터 필드간 또는 그 반대의 경우 양자간 통신을 지정하기 위한 소프트웨어 프로그램 모듈은 문서 애플리케이션 및/또는 데이터베이스 애플리케이션에 기록된 소프트웨어 프로그램 모듈일 수도 있고, 그러한 프로그램 모듈은 애플리케이션 프로그래밍 인터페이스로서 작동하거나 문서 애플리케이션 및/또는 데이터베이스 애플리케이션에 의하여 액세스 가능한 동적-링크 라이브러리로서 작동할 수도 있다. 데이터베이스(205)를 위한 데이터베이스 애플리케이션 및 대응 메모리는 인터넷-기반형 웹 서버나 데이터베이스 서버를 통하여 또는 원격 데이터베이스 서버에 대한 인터넷 연결을 통하여 사용자 컴퓨터에 액세스 가능한 사용자 컴퓨터(20)와 멀리 떨어져 원격 컴퓨터 서버(49) 상에 배치될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 데이터베이스(205)는 다양한 규정형 문서 타입이 관련된 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저와 함께 보유될 수 있는 문서 라이브러리(220)를 포함할 수 있다. 이하 설명하는 바와 같이, 사용자는 이미 구조적으로 주석 첨가되고 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저와 연관된 특정 문서를 열기 위하여 사용자의 문서 애플리케이션을 통해서 문서 라이브러리(220)로부터 문서 타입을 선택할 수 있다. 예컨대, 사용자가 특허 출원 명세서를 작성하는 프로젝트 팀의 구성원인 경우, 그 특허 출원 명세서가 문서 라이브러리(220)에 포함될 수 있다. 사용자가 그 특허 출원 명세서에 대해 작업을 하고자 하는 경우, 사용자는 데이터베이스(205)를 통하여 문서 라이브러리에서 그 특허 출원 명세서를 선택할 수 있다. 특허 출원 명세서는 이미 그 문서에 대한 전체 구조적 주석이 적절하게 갖추어진 상태로 사용자 문서 애플리케이션을 이용하여 사용자에게 열린다. 예컨대, 특허 출원 명세서는 XML 마크업 주석 및 연관된 XML 스키마와 사용자가 데이터베이스(205) 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에서 다운로드된 데이터로 문서를 작성하기 시작할 수 있게 하는 파일 경로 포인터를 포함하는 템플릿 형태일 수 있고, 또는 사용자가 문서에 데이터를 삽입하여 문서를 작성하면 그러한 데이터가 자동으로 데이터베이스(205) 내에 포함된 대응데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 전송될 수도 있다.
도 2에 도시된 바에 따르면, 데이터베이스 측에 저장된 문서 라이브러리(220)에서 소정 문서를 선택하여, 사용자는 이력서 문서(210)에 연관된 이력서 문서를 위한 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 액세스할 수 있다. 따라서, 사용자는 대응 문서(210) 내에서 데이터가 자동으로 갱신되도록 개별 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저(225) 내에 포함된 데이터를 갱신할 수 있다. 데이터베이스(205)는 이력서 문서 데이터베이스(225) 등과 같이 많은 사용자가 공통된 단일의 데이터베이스에 액세스하여 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 데이터를 부가하고, 그에 포함된 데이터를 삭제하고, 그에 포함된 데이터를 갱신할 수 있는 공유 데이터 환경에서 작동될 수 있다. 이력서 문서 데이터베이스(225)의 타이틀 데이터 필드와 같은 각 데이터 필드가 이력서 문서(210)의 대응 타이틀 섹션(212)으로 매핑되고 연결되기 때문에, 이력서 문서 데이터베이스(225)의 타이틀 데이터 필드에 포함된 데이터에 대한 변경은 문서의 타이틀 섹션(212)에 포함된 정보의 갱신을 야기할 것이다. 예컨대, 이력서 문서 데이터베이스(225)의 타이틀 섹션 내의 데이터가 'John Doe'에서 'Jane Doe'로 변경된 경우, 이력서 문서(210)의 타이틀 섹션에 포함된 정보가 자동으로 'John Doe'에서 'Jane Doe'로 변경될 것이다. 마찬가지로, 사용자가 이력서 문서(210)를 열고 타이틀을 'John Doe'에서 'Jane Doe'로 변경한 경우, 데이터베이스(205)에서 이력서 문서 데이터 필드(225)의 타이틀 섹션에 포함된 데이터가 역시 자동으로 갱신될 것이다.
도 3은 문서를 생성하고 문서 내 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스 내 대응 데이터필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 링크하기 위한 소프트웨어 애플리케이션의 컴퓨터 스크린 디스플레이를 도시하고 있다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 앞서 간단히 언급한 바와 같이, 대응 데이터베이스로 매핑되어 이전에 생성되어 있는 문서를 획득하거나 대응 데이터베이스로 매핑될 수 있는 문서를 생성하기 위한 문서 템플릿을 획득하기 위하여 데이터베이스(205)에서 문서 라이브러리(220)가 액세스될 수 있다. 도 3을 참조하면, 사용자 문서 애플리케이션(300)의 예시적 문서 라이브러리 버튼(310)을 선택하는 경우, 이용 가능한 문서 또는 문서 타입의 리스트를 사용자에게 제공하는 문서 라이브러리 사용자 인터페이스(320)가 열릴 수 있다. 예컨대, 사용자는 도 2에 도시된 이력서 문서(210)를 열기 위하여 문서 라이브러리 사용자 인터페이스(320)에서 이력서 문서(325)를 선택할 수 있다.
사용자가 문서 라이브러리 사용자 인터페이스(320)에서 이력서 문서를 선택하여 이력서 문서(210)를 열면, 이력서 문서(210)가 편집을 위하여 사용자에게 디스플레이된다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 고유의 문서 ID를 대응 데이터베이스 레코드와 매칭시킴으로써 문서 엘리먼트가 대응 데이터베이스 레코드와 연관되기 때문에, 그 열린 이력서 문서에는 데이터베이스(205)의 대응 데이터필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로부터 문서 엘리먼트 각각에 배치된 데이터를 포함하는 이력서 문서(210)의 최신 버전이 포함될 수 있다. 도 2를 참조하여 전술한 바와 같이, 사용자가 이력서 문서(210)의 여러 엘리먼트 내에 포함된 데이터를 갱신하면, 데이터베이스(205)의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 포함된 데이터가 갱신된다. 마찬가지로, 데이터베이스(205)의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 포함된 데이터에 대한 변경은 이력서 문서(210)의 데이터 엘리먼트 내에 포함된 대응 데이터를 자동으로 갱신할 것이다.

도 4를 참조하고, 본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 현재 대응 데이터베이스에 매핑되거나 링크되어 있지 않은 문서가 그 문서의 여러 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스(205) 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 링크하기 위하여 구조화될 수 있다. 예컨대, 사용자가 그의 워드 프로세서(300)의 데이터 엔트리 영역(305)에서 문서를 작성하여 이력서 문서(210) 등의 문서를 작성하는 경우, 사용자는 도 3을 참조하여 설명된 문서 라이브러리 사용자 인터페이스(320)에서 이력서 문서 타입을 선택하여 그가 작성 중인 문서에 적용될 엘리먼트의 제안형 리스트를 제공받을 수 있다. 도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, 이력서 문서 타입의 선택에 응답하여, 제안형 이력서 엘리먼트 패인(suggested resume element pane)(250)이 사용자에게 제공되어 그 이력서 문서에 XML 구조로 주석을 첨가하기 위한 제안형 엘리먼트가 사용자에게 제공될 수 있다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 사용자는 그 문서에 들어가서 <학력> 엘리먼트(360) 등의 XML 엘리먼트를 수동으로 삽입할 수도 있고, 또는 문서의 학력 섹션 내에 커서(365)를 배치하고 패인(350)에서 학력 엘리먼트(355)를 선택하여 <학력> 엘리먼트로 문서의 선택된 영역에 자동으로 주석을 첨가할 수도 있다. 사용자가 XML 구조로 문서에 주석을 달면, 사용자에게 그 문서에 적용되는 XML 구조를 개요 형태로 제시하기 위하여 XML 트리 뷰 패인(340)이 제공될 수 있다.
새로 생성된 문서가 XML 엘리먼트 구조 등의 구조로 주석 첨가되면, 문서 엘리먼트가 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 링크되어 전술된 바와 같이 문서와 데이터베이스(205)간 통신을 허용할 수 있다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따르면, 문서에 대한 주석 첨가를 위하여 사용자에게 제공되는 제안형 엘리먼트가 데이터베이스(205) 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 대한 포인터와 함께 미리 배치될 수 있다. 따라서, 그 제안형 엘리먼트 중 하나로 문서에 주석을첨가하면 문서에 필요한 구조가 제공될 뿐만 아니라, 연관된 엘리먼트가 데이터베이스(205) 내의 대응 데이터 필드로 포인팅되게 된다.
이와 달리, 도 5를 참조하면, 데이터베이스(205) 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 문서의 엘리먼트를 매핑시키기 위하여 데이터 필드 매핑 사용자 인터페이스(500)가 사용자에게 제공될 수 있다. 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이, 문서의 엘리먼트 리스트는 그 문서 엘리먼트가 매핑되고 링크될 수 있는 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저의 관련 리스트와 함께 사용자 인터페이스(500)로 배치될 수 있다. 분명히 알아야 하는 바와 같이, 사용자 인터페이스(500)는 문서 엘리먼트를 질의(540) 및 프로시저(545)로 매핑하기 위하여 동등하게 적용될 수 있다. 즉, 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이, 사용자 인터페이스는 문서와 데이터베이스 간 데이터 판독 및 기록을 위한 질의(예컨대, SQL문) 또는 저장형 프로시저의 명칭을 포함하도록 확장될 수 있다.
예컨대, 문서의 타이틀 섹션으로 삽입된 데이터가 데이터베이스(205) 내의 타이틀 데이터 필드로 매핑되고 링크되기를 바란다면, 사용자는 그 <타이틀> 엘리먼트를 선택한 다음 타이틀 데이터 필드를 선택하여 문서의 타이틀 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스(205)의 타이틀 데이터 필드로 매핑하고 링크할 수 있다. 따라서, 그 타이틀 엘리먼트를 타이틀 데이터 필드에 매핑한 이후, 문서의 타이틀 섹션이나 데이터베이스(205)의 타이틀 데이터 필드 중 어느 하나에 포함된 데이터에 대하여 일어날 수 있는 변경은 대응 문서 엘리먼트나 데이터 필드에 변경을 야기할 수 있으며 그 역의 경우도 같다. 필요한 모든 문서 엘리먼트가 대응 데이터 필드, 질의및/또는 프로시저에 매핑되고 링크되면, 그리고 문서를 레코드나 적절한 데이터 세트에 연관시키기 위한 고유의 ID가 존재한다면, 문서 엘리먼트와 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저간 데이터 통신이 형성된다.
도 6 및 도 7은 문서의 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 매핑하고 링크하는 방법을 나타내는 흐름도이다. 방법(600)은 시작 단계(605)에서 시작하여 데이터를 보유하고 조작하기 위한 데이터베이스나 테이블(205)이 형성되는 단계(610)로 진행한다. 도 6 및 도 7을 설명하기 위하여, 예컨대, 최종 특허 출원 명세서 작성에 이용되는 데이터를 보유하는 테이블이 데이터베이스(205)에 형성된다고 가정하기로 한다. 단계(615)에서, 사용자는 새로운 문서를 작성해야 하는지 여부를 결정한다. 새로운 문서 작성이 필요하지 않다고 결정한 경우, 본 방법은 단계(635)로 진행하고 XML 구조로 문서에 주석을 첨가하기 위하여 이용 가능한 규칙 및 프로시저를 제공하도록 '특허명세서-스키마.xsd' 등의 스키마가 기존의 특허 출원 명세서에 첨부될 수 있다. 단계(640)에서, 스키마가 기존 문서에 첨부된다. 이와 달리, 문서가 이미 첨부된 즉 연관된 스키마를 갖추고 있을 수도 있다.

단계(645)로 되돌아가서, 사용자가 작성하는 문서와 연관된 데이터를 보유하는 테이블이 데이터베이스(205)에 마련되어 있지 않다면, 사용자는 선택된 테이블에 속하는 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저를 갖도록 문서에 포함된 XML엘리먼트를 지정할 수 있다. 예컨대, 데이터베이스(205)는 많은 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저나 문서 타입을 포함할 수 있는 많은 테이블을 보유할 수 있다. 특허 명세서와 연관된 데이터를 보유하는 테이블이 데이터베이스(205) 내에 형성될 수 있다. 특허 명세서를 위하여 생성된 테이블 내에, 개별 특허 명세서를 위한 데이터를 보유하는 많은 서브파일이 생성될 수 있다. 각 서브파일 내에, 사용자가 작성하는 특허 명세서에 포함된 개별 엘리먼트와 연관되는 다양한 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저가 생성될 수 있다.
단계(660)에서는, 그 문서에 적용되는 XML 엘리먼트와 연관된 개별 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저가 선택된 테이블 내에 형성될 수 있다. 일실시예에 따르면, 도 5를 참조하여 전술한 바와 같이, 문서의 주석 첨가 및 제안형 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 문서를 매핑함으로써 그 선택된 테이블 내에 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저를 형성한다. 이와 달리, 단계(665)에서, 사용자는 직접 데이터베이스(205)에 들어가 그 사용자가 작성하는 문서에 적용되는 선택된 문서 엘리먼트에 매핑될 수 있는 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저를 갖춘 테이블을 생성할 수 있다.
문서가 XML 구조로 작성되고 주석 첨가되면, 그리고 문서 엘리먼트에 대응하는 데이터를 포함하는 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저가 형성되면, 본 방법은 단계(670), 즉 도 7로 진행하여 그 테이블과 문서의 정규적 사용이 시작될 수 있다. 단계(675)에서, 사용자가 그 문서를 변경하여 저장한 경우, 본 방법은 단계(680)로 진행하여 문서의 다양한 엘리먼트에서 변경되어 저장된 데이터가 테이블 내 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저를 갱신함으로써 그 테이블에서도 갱신된다. 반면, 단계(685)에서, 사용자가 문서 내 엘리먼트에 대응하는 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에 포함된 데이터에 대하여 직접 변경을 가한 경우, 본 방법은 단계(690)로 진행하여 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저에서 대응 데이터가 변경된 바와 같이 문서 내 대응 데이터 엘리먼트와 연관된 데이터가 자동으로 갱신된다. 본 방법은 단계(695)에서 종료한다.
전술한 바와 같이, 본 방법과 시스템은 문서의 엘리먼트를 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터 필드, 질의 및/또는 프로시저로 매핑하고 링크하기 위한 것이다. 당업자라면 본 발명의 범위와 사상을 벗어나지 않고서 다양한 변형이나 변경이 이루어질 수 있음을 알 것이다. 당업자라면 본 명세서에 개시된 본 발명에 관한 구체적 내용과 그 실시를 이해하고, 본 발명에 관한 또 다른 실시예가 가능함을 알 것이다.
데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터에 대한 갱신이 문서의 대응 부분을 자동으로 갱신하고, 그 문서 각 부분에 대한 갱신이 데이터베이스 내의 대응 데이터를 자동으로 갱신하도록 문서 콘텐츠의 각 부분을 데이터베이스 내의 대응 필드나 질의에 매핑하고 링크하는 방법 및 시스템이 제공된다.
