Abstract

Description

유동 제어를 갖는 누출 방지 컵 {LEAK-PROOF CUP WITH FLOW CONTROL}
컵 내의 과도한 진공의 발생 없이 사용자가 주둥이로부터 음료를 마시는 것을 허용하는 음료 주둥이 및 별개의 통기공을 갖고 둘러싸인 컵은 이 기술 분야에서 알려져 있다. 그러나, 음료 주둥이 및 통기공은 섭취 사이에 또는 사용 중에 떨어뜨림으로써 컵 내에 저장된 액체를 누출시키기 마련이다. 따라서, 주둥이 및 통기공에서 흐름 조절 기구를 사용하는 일정한 컵이 개발되어 왔다. 이들 밸브는 섭취 중에 발생된 흡인력에 응답하여 개방하여 액체가 주둥이를 통하여 지나가는 것을 허용하고 진공이 컵의 내부에 전개되었을 때 공기가 통기공으로 들어가는 것을 허용한다.

이들 컵 메커니즘의 유효성에도 불구하고, 출원인은 향상된 유동 제어 요소 및 밸브의 엎지름 방지 및 밸브의 내구성을 희생하지 않고 유체 유속을 향상시키는 대응 밸브 구성을 알아내었다.
본 발명은 누출 방지 컵에 관한 것이다. 특히, 본 발명은 일 측부에 음료 주둥이와 이로부터 이격된 통기공을 구비한 캡을 갖는 컵 조립체로서, 유동 제어 요소가 음료 주둥이 및 통기공의 근처에 마찰식으로 결합되어 사용 중에 액체 및 공기의 통과를 허용하는 한편, 사용하지 않을 때에는 주둥이 및 통기공을 통하여 상당한 누출을 방지하는 컵 조립체에 관한 것이다.

따라서, 본 발명의 목적은 뒤집거나, 떨어뜨리거나, 또는 흔들어도 사실상 누출을 방지하는 컵 조립체를 위한 향상된 밸브 메커니즘을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 추가 목적은 내구성 및 엎지름 방지를 희생하지 않고 통상의 흡인력에서 더 높은 유체 유속을 제공하는 누출 방지컵을 위한 향상된 밸브 메커니즘을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 다른 추가 목적은 세척 및 조립하기에 용이한 향상된 밸브 메커니즘, 캡 및 컵을 제공하는 것이다.
따라서, 본 발명은 개방 단부를 갖는 컵과, 상기 개방 단부를 둘러싸도록 구성되고 음료 주둥이 및 통기공을 포함하고 상기 음료 주둥이 및 통기공에 인접한 또는 그에 병합된 정합 표면을 포함하는 캡과, 상기 정합 표면과 결합하도록 구성되고 각각의 최상부에 오목한 밸브면을 갖는 2개의 스택을 구비한 유동 제어 밸브를 포함하는 음료 컵 조립체를 제공한다.
도면, 특히 도2 내지 도4에서, 본 발명의 컵, 캡 및 밸브 조립체는 참고 번호 10으로 주어진다. 조립체(10)는 컵(12), 캡(14) 및 유동 제어 밸브(20)를 포함한다. 캡(14)은 주둥이(16)의 개구와 캡 표면에 형성된 통기공(18)을 제외하고는 컵(12)을 밀봉하도록 구성된다. 유동 제어 밸브(20)는 주둥이(16) 및 통기공(18)과 연통하도록 구성되어, 사실상의 엎지름 방지 조립체(10)를 형성한다.
캡(14)은, 유동 제어 밸브(20)와 마찰 결합하고 유동 제어 밸브를 주둥이(16) 및 통기공(18)과 유체 연통하게 배치하도록 바람직하게는 주둥이(16) 및 통기공(18)에 인접한 또는 그에 병합된 정합 표면과 함께 형성된다. 도2에 도시된 실시예에서, 캡(14)은 주둥이(16) 내에 그리고 통기공(18) 아래에 원통형 리세스(17)와 함께 형성된다. 이들 리세스(17)는 유동 제어 밸브(20)를 수용하도록 구성된다.

또한, 도3 및 도4에 도시된 바와 같이, 스택(24)의 각각은 긴 형상이다. 더욱이, 스택(24)의 각각은 상당한 직경과 사실상 동일한 높이를 갖는다. 스택(24)의 긴 형상은 스택들이 밸브면(30)과 슬릿(32)(도5에 도시됨)을 주둥이(16)의 개구 및 통기공(18)에 아주 근접하게 위치시킬 수 있게 한다. 스택(24)의 직경은 슬릿(32) 영역으로의 비교적 구속되지 않은 상당한 유체 유동을 허용한다. 이러한 장치가 슬릿(32)을 개방시키는 데 요구되는 흡인력의 최적 균형과 슬릿을 통한 유체 유동을 제공하는 것을 알 수 있다.
이와 유사하게, 그의 사실상 원통형의 직경 및 결과적인 내부 윤곽은 사용 후에 스택(24)의 완전한 세척을 가능하게 하고 건조 또는 응결된 액체가 침전되는 코너 또는 벽감(niche)의 수를 감소시키도록 단순하고 넓은 개구 및 튜브를 나타낸다. 스택의 외부 윤곽이 도3 내지 도4에 도시된 바와 같이 단차를 갖지만, 스택의 내부 윤곽은 일정한 직경 또는 일정하게 감소하는 직경이어서 매끄럽고 단차가 없는 내부면을 나타내는 것이 바람직하다. 따라서, 매끄러운 내부면은 바람직하게는 원통형, 절두 원추형, 또는 이들 둘의 조합 중 어느 하나이다. 이러한 매끄러운 내부면은 자유 유체 유동을 향상시키고 스택(24)의 용이한 세척을 향상시킨다. 이러한 양호한 유동 제어 밸브(20)가 세척하기 용이하다는 사실은 조립체(10)의 적절하고 위생적인 기능에 있어서, 그리고 밸브에 대해 소비자가 받아들이는 것에 있어서 매우 중요하다.
또한, 슬릿(32)의 부수적인 곡면 형상과 관련하여, 밸브면(30)의 양호한 오목 형상이 현재의 밸브 형상보다 슬릿(32)을 통한 우수한 유체 유속을 제공한다는 것을 알게 되었다. 이는 조립체(10)가 마시기 편하고 사용시 방해받지 않고 피로를 주지 않게 만든다. 더욱이, 긴 단일 슬릿(32)들이 밸브면(30)을 통하여 개구의 십자형으로 자른 형태 또는 다른 형태보다 바람직하다는 것을 알게 되었다. 또한, 슬릿(32)은 에지로부터 오목한 밸브면(32)의 에지로 연장하는 것이 바람직하다.
보다 바람직하게, 주둥이(16)와 정렬된 밸브면(30)의 곡률 반경은 약 0.267 인치(0.668 ㎝)이다. 또한, 통기공(18)과 정렬된 밸브면(30)의 가장 바람직한 곡률 반경은 약 0.267 인치(0.668 ㎝)이다. 주둥이(16)와 정렬된 슬릿(32)의 가장 바람직한 길이는 약 0.235 인치(0.588 ㎝)이다. 통기공(18)과 정렬된 슬릿(32)의 가장 바람직한 길이는 약 0.170 인치(0.425 ㎝)이다. 주둥이(16)와 정렬된 스택(24)의 가장 바람직한 내경은 약 0.301 인치(0.753 ㎝) 내지 약 0.368 인치(0.920 ㎝)로서, 이상적으로는 최소 및 최대 직경으로서 상기 값을 갖는 절두 원추형이다. 통기공(18)과 정렬된 스택(24)의 가장 바람직한 내경은 약 0.252 인치(0.630 ㎝) 내지 약 0.368 인치(0.920 ㎝)로서, 이상적으로는 최소 및 최대 직경으로서 상기 값을 갖는 절두 원추형이다. 주둥이(16)와 정렬된 스택(24)의 가장 바람직한 높이는 최상부에서 바닥까지 약 0.803 인치(2.008 ㎝)이고, 만입부에서 바닥까지 약 0.521 인치(1.303 ㎝)이다. 통기공(18)과 정렬된 스택(24)의 가장 바람직한 높이는 최상부에서 바닥까지 약 0.730 인치(1.825 ㎝)이고, 만입부에서 바닥까지 약 0.550 인치(1.375 ㎝)이다. 2개의 스택(24)은 중심에서 바람직하게는 1.60 인치(4 ㎝)이다. 주둥이(16)와 정렬된 스택(24)의 하부(26)의 바람직한 외경은 약 0.522 인치(1.305 ㎝)이다. 통기공(18)과 정렬된 스택(24)의 하부(26)의 바람직한 외경은 약 0.457 인치(1.143 ㎝)이다. 이들 치수는 약 0.499 인치(1.248 ㎝) 및 약 0.439 인치(1.098 ㎝)의 내경을 각각 갖는 원통형 리세스(17)를 구비한 컵 리드와 함께 억지 끼워 맞춤을 제공한다. 상기 치수의 모두는 약 0.005 인치(0.013 ㎝)의 양호한 허용오차를 조건으로 한다. 더욱이, 가장 바람직한 추가의 치수는 밸브면(30)의 두께이다. 이는 가장 바람직하게는 약 0.023 인치(0.058 ㎝)의 두께로, 약 0.002 인치(0.005 ㎝)의 양호한 허용오차를 갖는다. 이 치수가 사용 중 흡인력 하에서 적절한 밸브면(30)의 만곡부 및 슬릿(32)의 개구를 구비하는 데 매우 중요하다는 것을 알게 되었다.

Claims (10)

  1. 음료 컵 조립체에 있어서,
    개방 단부를 갖는 컵과,
    상기 개방 단부를 둘러싸도록 구성되고 음료 주둥이 및 통기공을 포함하고 상기 음료 주둥이 및 통기공에 인접한 또는 그에 병합된 정합 표면을 포함하는 캡과,
    상기 정합 표면과 결합하도록 구성되고 각각의 최상부에 오목한 밸브면을 갖는 2개의 스택을 구비한 유동 제어 밸브를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 오목한 밸브면의 각각은 그를 통하는 단일 밸브 슬릿을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2개의 스택은 높이가 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 스택은 단차를 갖는 외부 윤곽을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2개의 스택은 매끄러운 내부 윤곽을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 매끄러운 내부 윤곽은 원통형, 절두 원추형 및 이들의 조합을 이루는 구성으로부터 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 유동 제어 밸브는 2개의 개별편을 포함하고, 상기 2개의 개별편의 각각은 상기 2개의 스택 중의 하나를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 정합 표면은 원통형 리세스를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 음료 컵 조립체.
