Abstract

Description
본 발명은 수동 NOx 흡착제 및 그것의 내연기관용 배기 시스템에서의 용도에 관한 것이다.
내연기관은 정부의 제정 대상인 질소 산화물 ("NOx"), 일산화탄소 및 미연소 탄화수소를 포함하여, 다양한 오염물질을 함유하는 배기가스를 유발한다. 배출물 제어 시스템은 대기로 배출되는 이들 오염물질의 양을 감소시키기 위해, 전형적으로 일단 시스템이 작동 온도 (전형적으로 200℃ 이상)에 도달하게 되면 매우 높은 효율을 이루기 위해 광범위하게 사용된다. 그러나, 이들 시스템은 시스템의 작동 온도 아래에서는 ("냉간 시동" 기간) 상대적으로 비효율적이다.

미국 출원 공개 번호 2011/0005200은 동시에 암모니아를 제거하고 암모니아-선택적 촉매 환원 ("NH3-SCR") 촉매 제형을 희박 NOx 트랩의 하류에 배치시킴으로써 순 NOx 변환을 증강시키는 촉매 시스템을 교시한다. NH3-SCR 촉매는 희박 NOx 트랩에서 리치 펄스 (rich pulse) 중에 생성되는 암모니아를 흡착하는 것으로 교시된다. 그런 다음 저장된 암모니아는 상류의 희박 NOx 트랩으로부터 배출된 NOx와 반응하고, 그것은 저장된 암모니아를 고갈시키는 한편 NOx 변환율을 증가시킨다.

어떠한 자동차 시스템 및 공정을 사용할 때와 같이, 특히 냉간 시동 상태하에서 배기가스 처리 시스템에서 추가의 개선점을 얻는 것이 바람직하다. 본 발명자들은 내연기관으로부터의 배기가스의 강화된 클리닝을 제공하는 새로운 수동 NOx 흡착제를 발견하였다. 새로운 수동 NOx 흡착제는 또한 향상된 내황성을 나타낸다.

관통형 기질은 바람직하게 기질의 축을 통해 이동하고 기질의 유입구 또는 출구로부터 그것을 통해 확장되는, 많은 작고 평행한 얇은-벽 채널을 가지는 벌집형 구조를 가지는 관통형 모노리스이다. 기질의 채널 단면은 어떠한 형상이든 가능하지만, 바람직하게, 정사각형, 사인곡선형, 삼각형, 직사각형, 육각형, 사다리꼴, 원형 또는 타원형이다.
필터형 기질은 바람직하게 벽유동형 모노리스 필터이다. 벽유동형 필터의 채널은 다르게는 차단되어서 배기 기류가 유입구로부터 채널로 들어간 후, 채널 벽을 통해 흐르다가 상이한 채널로부터 출구로 필터를 빠져나가는 것이 허용된다. 따라서 배기가스 스트림 중의 미립자들은 필터에 포획된다.

미립자 필터는 내연기관의 배기가스로부터 미립자를 감소시키는 장치이다. 미립자 필터는 촉매된 미립자 필터 및 기본적인 (촉매되지 않은) 미립자 필터를 포함한다. 촉매된 미립자 필터 (디젤 및 가솔린 용도)는 필터에 의해 포획된 그을음을 파괴하는 것 외에 탄화수소 및 일산화탄소를 산화시키기 위하여 금속 및 금속 산화물 성분들 (예컨대 Pt, Pd, Fe, Mn, Cu 및 세리아)를 포함한다.

3-원 촉매 (TWC)는 전형적으로 화학양론적 조건하에서 단일 장치상에서 NOx를 N2로, 일산화탄소를 CO2로, 및 CO2를 H2O로 변환시키기 위해 가솔린 엔진에 사용된다.
산화 촉매, 및 특히 디젤 산화 촉매 (DOC)는 기술 분야에 잘 알려져 있다. 산화 촉매는 CO를 CO2로 산화시키고 기질상 탄화수소 (HC) 및 디젤 미립자들의 유기 부분 (가용성 유기 부분)을 CO2 및 H2O로 산화시키기 위해 디자인된다. 전형적인 산화 촉매는 알루미나, 실리카-알루미나 및 제올라이트와 같은 고표면적 무기 산화물 지지체 상에 백금 및 임의로 또한 팔라듐을 포함한다.

발명은 또한 내연기관으로부터의 배기가스를 처리하기 위한 방법을 포함한다. 그 방법은 NOx를 수동 NOx 흡착제 상에 저온에서 또는 저온보다 아래의 온도에서 흡착시키는 단계, 수동 NOx 흡착제로부터의 NOx를 저온보다 위의 온도에서 변환시키고 열적으로 탈착시키는 단계, 및 탈착된 NOx를 수동 NOx 흡착제의 하류에 있는 촉매 성분상에서 촉매적으로 제거하는 단계를 포함한다. 바람직하게 저온은 약 200℃이다.
수동 NOx 흡착제의 하류에 있는 촉매 성분은 SCR 촉매, 미립자 필터, SCR 필터, NOx 흡착제 촉매, 3-원 촉매, 산화 촉매 또는 그것들의 조합이다.
다음의 실시예는 단순히 발명을 예시한다. 기술분야의 숙련자들은 발명의 사상 및 청구범위의 범주 내에 있는 많은 변화를 인지할 것이다.
실시예
1: 수동 NO
x
흡착제 (PNA)의 제조
팔라듐을 소기공 캐버자이트 (CHA) 제올라이트에 26의 실리카-대-알루미나 비율 (SAR), 중간 기공 ZSM-5 (MFI) 제올라이트에 SAR=23으로 및 큰 기공 베타 (BEA) 제올라이트에 SAR=26으로 첨가하여 PNA 1A (Pd/CHA), 비교용 PNA 1B (Pd/MFI) 및 비교용 PNA 1C (Pd/BEA)를 다음의 일반 과정을 따라 제조한다: 분말 촉매를 전구체로서 팔라듐 니트레이트를 사용하여 제올라이트의 습식 침지에 의해 제조한다. 샘플을 100℃에서 건조시킨 후 500℃에서 하소한다. 그런 다음 샘플을 10% H2O를 함유하고 있는 공기 대기 중에서 열수에 의해 750℃에서 노화시킨다. 세 가지의 모든 샘플에 대한 Pd 로딩은 1 wt.%이다.
비교용 PNA 1D (Pd/CeO2)를 WO 2008/047170에 기록된 과정을 따라 제조한다. Pd 로딩은 1 wt.%이다. 샘플을 10% H2O를 함유하고 있는 공기 대기중에서 열수에 의해 750℃에서 노화시킨다.
실시예
2: NO
x
저장 용량 시험 과정
PNA (0.4 g)를 300 L * hr-1 * g-1의 MHSV에서 약 80℃의 흡착 온도에서 분당 2리터로 흐르는 NO-함유 가스 혼합물 중에서 유지시킨다. 이 흡착 단계에 이어서 NO-함유 가스의 존재하에 분당 10℃의 램핑 속도에서 온도 프로그램 탈착 (TPD)을, 추가의 시험을 위해 모든 저장된 NOx의 촉매를 퍼지하기 위해 베드 (bed) 온도가 약 400℃에 도달할 때까지 수행한다. 그런 다음 시험을 80℃ 대신 170℃의 흡착 온도로부터 시작하여 반복한다.
흡착 및 탈착 두 단계 중에 NO-함유 가스 혼합물은 12 vol.% O2, 200 ppm NO, 5 vol.% CO2, 200 ppm CO, 50 ppm C10H22 및 5 vol.% H2O를 포함한다.
NOx 저장은 약 3 g/in3의 촉매 로딩을 함유하는 모노리스를 참조로 하여 촉매의 리터당 저장된 NO2의 양으로서 계산한다. 상이한 온도에서의 그 결과를 표 1에 나타낸다.
표 1의 결과는 발명의 PAN (PAN 1A)이 비교용 PAN 1D에 비교하여 80℃ 및 170℃에서 모두 비교할만한 NOx 저장 용량을 증명하는 것을 보여준다. 비록 비교용 PNA 1B 및 1C가 80℃에서 더 높은 NOx 저장 용량을 나타내지만, 그것들의 170℃에서의 NOx 저장 용량은 더 낮다. 약 170℃보다 위의 온도에서 높은 NOx 저장 용량을 필요로 하는 용도에 대해, PNA 1A 및 비교용 PNA 1D는 비교용 PNA 1B 및 1C를 능가하는 장점을 보인다.
실시예
3: 황 노출 후 NO
x
저장 용량 시험 과정
PNA 1A 및 비교용 PNA 1D를 SO2 함유 가스 (100 ppm SO2, 10% O2, 5% CO2 및 H2O, 나머지 N2)와 300℃에서 접촉시킴으로써 고수준의 황화 처리를 수행하여, 촉매의 그램당 약 64 mg의 S를 첨가한다. 황화 전과 후의 촉매의 NOx 저장 용량을 실시예 2의 과정 후에 100℃에서 측정한다. 그 결과를 표 2에 열거한다.
표 2에 나타낸 결과들은 발명의 PNA (PNA 1A)가 고수준의 황에 대한 노출 후에도 NOx 저장 용량의 상당한 양을 보유하는 것을 나타낸다. 대조적으로, 비교용 PNA 1D는 동일한 황화 조건하에서 그것의 NOx 흡착 능력을 거의 상실한다. 발명의 PNA는 훨씬 향상된 내황성을 나타낸다.

이들 PNA 및 80℃ 및 170℃에서의 그것들의 NOx 저장 용량을 표 3에 열거한다.
표 3의 결과는 광범위한 소기공 분자체 지지된 PNA가 높은 NOx 저장 용량을 가지는 것을 나타낸다.

표 4의 결과는 Pd 로딩을 증가시키는 것이 NOx 저장 용량을 증가시키는 것을 나타낸다.

Claims (16)
- 저온에서 또는 저온보다 아래의 온도에서 NOx를 흡착하고 흡착된 NOx를 저온보다 위의 온도에서 방출하기에 효과적인 수동 NOx 흡착제로서, 상기 수동 NOx 흡착제는 팔라듐 및 8개의 사면체 원자의 최대 고리 크기를 가지는 소기공 분자체로 구성되는 수동 NOx 흡착제; 및
선택적 촉매 환원 (SCR) 촉매, 미립자 필터, SCR 필터, NOx 흡착제 촉매, 3-원 촉매, 산화 촉매 및 그것들의 조합으로 구성되는 군으로부터 선택된 촉매 성분을 포함하는 내연기관용 배기 시스템으로서,
내연기관용 배기 시스템은 수동 NOx 흡착제가 엔진 가까이에 배치되고 촉매 성분(들)이 수동 NOx 흡착제의 하류에 배치되도록 구성되고;
저온은 200℃인 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관용 배기 시스템. - 제 1항에 있어서, 소기공 분자체는 알루미노실리케이트 분자체, 금속-치환된 알루미노실리케이트 분자체, 알루미노포스페이트 분자체 및 금속-치환된 알루미노포스페이트 분자체로 구성되는 군으로부터 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관용 배기 시스템.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서, 소기공 분자체는 ACO, AEI, AEN, AFN, AFT, AFX, ANA, APC, APD, ATT, CDO, CHA, DDR, DFT, EAB, EDI, EPI, ERI, GIS, GOO, IHW, ITE, ITW, LEV, KFI, MER, MON, NSI, OWE, PAU, PHI, RHO, RTH, SAT, SAV, SIV, THO, TSC, UEI, UFI, VNI, YUG, ZON 및 그것들의 혼합물 또는 호생 (intergrowth)으로 구성되는 프레임워크 유형의 군으로부터 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관용 배기 시스템.
- 제 3항에 있어서, 소기공 분자체는 AEI 및 CHA로 구성되는 프레임워크 유형의 군으로부터 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관용 배기 시스템.
