Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to apply a continuous absorption treatment to waste gases, by providing an overflow means in a vessel into which waste gases to be treated together with absorption liquids are sucked and sprayed and providing further a means to supplement fresh absorption liquids into the vessel on the basis of pH values of the absorption liquids in the vessel. CONSTITUTION:A pH meter 37 installed in a vessel 21 detects the pH value of an absorption liquid 22 retained in the vessel 21. When said pH value comes out of an allowable range, a motor 35 is driven through a pH controller 38 to operate a pump 34, causing a fresh absorption liquid 33 for replenishment to be added into the vessel 21, simultaneously with which a proper quantity of water is added to said vessel through a pipe 42 from a water feed device to make the pH value of the absorption liquid 33 suitable and the quantity of the absorption liquid 22 in the vessel 21 kept constant. As a result, the treating capacity of the absorption liquid 22 in the vessel 21 is always maintained at a specified level and waste gases which are induced and ejected from an ejector 30 into the vessel 21 together with the absorption liquid 22 can be treated in contact with said absorption liquid 22.
