Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily control the BOD value of waste water, by preparatively finding out the relation of a BOD value with a turbidity of waste water, and detecting the BOD value by measuring a turbidity of the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: A BOD value of waste water flowing in a waste water pit 8 is detected by measuring its turbidity with a turbidometer 9. When the BOD value is lower than a self-imposed control level, the waste water is fed to a reservoir 10, adjusted in its pH value and discharged. When the BOD value is higher than the self-imporsed control level, the waste water is fed to a reservoir 11 by pump or valve means 13, adjusted in its pH there by pH control means 15, and carried to a biological waste water decontamination apparatus 18 by a flow rate controlling pump or valve 17 while measuring its BOD value by a turbidometer 16. In the apparatus 18, the waste water is treated to attain a proper BOD value. The BOD value of the biologically treated waste water is measured by a turbidometer 19. If the BOD value is lower than the control level, the waste water is discharged. If the BOD value is higher than the control level, the discharge is stopped and the waste water is subjected to a further biological treatment.
