Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a quality of a treated water by keeping a level of boundary between a supernatant water and a sludge in a clarifier not higher than a position at which a carry-out of sludge is preventable. CONSTITUTION:Sludge zone levels 43, 44 are detected by ultrasonic sludge zone detectors 25, 32 arranged in clarifiers 20, 27, the detected positions are sent to a controller 47 and discharge quantities of precipitated sludges 39, 40 are controlled by driving or stopping sludge discharge pumps 34, 36 and a standby sludge discharge pump 35 so as to keep sludge zone levels 43, 44 not higher than the levels at which the precipitated sludges 39, 40 being to be carried over. The carry-overs of the precipitated sludges 39, 40 are prevented and a quality of the treated water is always kept well as a result.
