Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out activated sludge treatment by a method wherein dissolved oxygen (DO) in an aeration tank is detected and, when said DO is reached to a definite value or more, operation is stopped and aeration is repeatedly initiated every set time to enhance aeration efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: In carrying out activated sludge treatment wherein sewage is subjected to aeration and precipitation treatments and precipitated sludge is returned and a supernatant liquid is discharged, a sensor, for example, a detector 2 detecting DO of a liquid in an aeration tank 1 is provided in said tank 1 and said detector 2 is connected to a control apparatus 3. An air supply blower 4 controlled by the control apparatus 3 and supplying air under pressure into the tank body is arranged. After a DO valve is reached to a definite value or more, the blower 4 is controlled by the aforementioned control apparatus 3 so as to be stopped for a time set by a timer 5. As an activated sludge treatment apparatus, a means such as an air diffusing type, a jet aeration type or the like can be used.
