Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out the control of a desired denitrification treatment easily and certainly by a method wherein activated sludge adhered to a support is contacted with a nitrogen containing water and redox potential and hydrogen exponent are set automatically to an adequate condition.
CONSTITUTION: Nitrogen containing water is supplied to a tank 2 from a supply pipe 1 and air is injected from an injection nozzle 6 through a branched supplied pipe 8 from an air supply apparatus 7 to whirl the nitrogen containing water to one direction within the tank 2 as well as dissolve oxygen gas into the water. By a control apparatus 11 of a valve 9 based on a detected value from a hydrogen exponent detecting apparatus 10, a supply amount of air is adjusted to automatically maintain the pH detecting valve to a set range and, by a control apparatus 15 of a control valve 13 based on the detected valve from a redox potential apparatus 14, a reducing amount of treated water is adjusted to maintain the redox potential to a set range. Under the above described condition, the nitrogen containing water is repeatedly whirled and contacted with a packing layer of a support adhered with activated sludge in a net like body and nitrogen component in water is oxidized and, thereafter, reduced to remove as N2 gas from water.
