Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the size of a treating tank and improve nitrogen removing capacity by supplying the ammoniac nitrogen-contg. water to be treated which is treated with activated sludge to a nitrifying tank, a denitrifying tank, a reaerating tank, and a sludge separating tank in this order.
CONSTITUTION: After the crude night soil from a storage tank 1 is removed of foreign materials in a pretreating device 2, it is supplied to a reaction tank 3, where an oxygen-contg. gas is blown through an air supply line 4 to oxidize ammoniac nitrogen components by the effect of aerobic activated sludge, and the produced nitrous acid and nitric acid are removed as gaseous nitrogen by the effect of anaerobic activated sludge. The treated water from the tank 3 is supplied to a nitrifying tank 6, where the residual ammoniac nitrogen components are oxidized, after which the treated water is supplied to a denitrifying tank 8 where nitrous acid and nitric acid are reduced. This treated water is supplied to a reaerating tank 9, where an oxygen-contg. gas is blown to lower biochemical oxygen demand sufficiently.
