Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently nitrify or denitrify org. waste water and to remove nitrogen with high efficiency by controlling nitrification and denitrification in accordance with the change rate of the oxidation-reduction potential in the waste water. CONSTITUTION:An oxidation-reduction electrometer 16 is provided in a tank 10. The change rate of the oxidation-reduction potential per unit time of the org. waste water is detected by this electrometer 16. The progressing condition of the nitrification and denitrification in the tank 10 is recognized in accordance with this detected change rate and the supply of the oxygen from an aeration line 18 and the supply of the org. waste water from an introducing line 12 are adjusted. As a result, the aerobic state and anaerobic state are rapidly controlled and the nitrogen is removed with high efficiency.
