Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise greatly the treatment performance of the existing polluted water treatment apparatus with lesser floor space and lesser amounts of improvement cost by the interposition of reaeration on the path through which sludge is returned.
CONSTITUTION: In a polluted water treatment apparatus consisting of the aeration tank 1 and the final sedimentation tank 2 and using an activated sludge method, the oxygen-reaeration tank 3 is provided on the paths 8 and 9 through which concentrated sludge is returned from the sedimentation tank 2 to the aeration tank 1, where a vapor-liquid mixing is made by the supply of a gas containing 50(vol)% or more oxygen for 10W180min and then the sludge is circulated to the aeration tank 1. Thus, because the sludge under a weakly an aerobic condition in the sedimentation tank 2 is sufficiently aerated under a high DO condition in the oxygen-reaeration tank with a gas having a high oxygen partial pressure, the activity of the sludge can be restored completely.
