Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform oxidation treatment of BOD, nitrification of ammonia-state nitrogen and denitrating treatment in the same cistern simultaneously by controlling the concentration of dissolving oxygen in the range from 0.05 ppm to 2.0 ppm in the air-exposing cistern.
CONSTITUTION: BOD oxidation, nitrification of ammonia-state nitrogen and denitrating treatment of nitrous-acid-state nitrogen or/and nitric-acid-state nitrogen are simultaneously carried out in the same cistern by treating sewage containing 2000 mg/l or less of ammonia-state nitrogen with exposing air, the concentration of dissolving oxygen of which is controlled in the range from 0.05 to 2.0 mg/l or from 0.1 to 0.2 mg/l preferably, for example, by activated mud treatment.
