Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and brazing characteristic and also to prevent the occurrence of white powder due to corrosion, by forming an outer shell of a core material made of Al material by using Al containing specific amounts of Si and Cu. CONSTITUTION:This brazing sheet for fin consists of a core material made of Al or Al alloy and a skin material which has a composition consisting of, by weight, 6-15% Si, 0.1-2% Cu, and the balance Al and containing, if necessary, 0.1-2% Mn and/or 0.5-2% Mg. In the skin material of this sheet, when Si content is outside the above range, the melting point is raised and brazing becomes difficult. Cu and Mn have corrosion resistance-improving effect, respectively, but this effect is reduced when their contents are below 0.1%, and, when they exceed 2%, brazing characteristic is deteriorated. Further, Mg has a function of enabling brazing by breaking an oxide film formed on a material surface, and, when its content is below 0.5% the above effect is insufficient, while workability is deteriorated when it exceeds 2%.
