Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide alloy powder for use in metallikon excellent in thermal resistance and suited for the formation of metal coating layer, by decreasing the Si content of Cr-Si-Ni type alloy powder, and by addn. of limited quantities of Al and III group elements. CONSTITUTION:An alloy powder consisting of 30-40wt% Cr, 5-14% Si, 5-10% Al, 0.01-2% III group elements such as Y, Ce, Sc, Th etc., the balance being at least one of Ni, Co. The Al in the composition participates in the thermal resistance, and the III group elements function as protective oxide film effective to the oxidation of the metallikon layer. Reduction in the Si content prevents the increase in the porosity of the metallikon layer in the range where the layer has the acid resistance. The alloy powder of this composition forms metallikon coating layer showing no peeling due to thermal shock etc.
