Abstract

Cr forms an oxide film on the alloy surface to make the surface passive and prevents the outflow of the metal. Mo enhances the castability of the Ni alloy and reduces the coefft. of thermal expansion of the alloy to make the coefft. close to that of ceramics. Al inhibits the excessive oxidation to prevent the blackening of the oxide film and acts as a deoxidizer. Si enhances the castability, increases the sulfurization resistance, makes the hardness of Ni suitable for use as the material of a crown, and has the action of a deoxidizer. By further adding 0.1W2% Fe, Co, Ca, Sn, Mn, Ti, Nb, Ta, etc., favorable results may be produced.
