Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title pipe material by nitriding the inside of an austenitic iron alloy having a specified compsn. of Cr, Ni, S, Ti, etc. and grain size No.3W7 under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The inside of an austenitic iron alloy having grain size No.3W7 and contg. Cr 15W26%, Ni 8W35%, Ti≥0.2%, Si≤1% and Mn≤2% is cold worked by 10% or more and nitrided at 1000°C or above to form an inner layer of 50W500μ fine grains having grain size No.7 or over (the balance has grain size No.3W7). When the grain size No. exceeds 7, the amt. of scale formed at 600°C in 1000hr is steeply reduced, e.g. to 1/3 in case of a 100μ fine grain layer. The alloy inside may be nitrided at 1000°C or above and cold worked by 10% or more to the total thickness to form a deeper fine grain layer. The nitriding is carried out with a gas contg. N≥5% and O2≤5%.
