Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a WC-base sintered alloy to be welded by regulating the grain size of the WC and the amt. of Co or Ni as a binder to be used and replacing part of the WC with carbides, nitrides or carbonitrides of one or more out of Ti, Ta, Nb, V and Cr.
CONSTITUTION: WC of 4W8μm in diameter is mixed with 15W30wt% of Co or Ni as a binder, molded, and sintered. At this time, 15vol% or less of the WC is replaced with carbides, nitrides or carbonitrides of one or more out of Ti, Ta, Nb, V and Cr. The resulting sintered hard alloy can be welded onto a base metal unlike a WC type sintered hard alloy, and the welded portion is not exfoliated in use.
