Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a hard alloy which comprises a monocarbide hard region made of a solid solution of Mo and W, and its hard phase is sintered with Cr, Mo or the like and a carbide or/and carbide-nitride made of a B1-type solid solution containing Ti and W and shows excellent performance in cutting under a drastic heat shock.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy, which contains a carbide or/and carbide-nitride comprising a monocarbide hard region produced by partially or entirely substituting (Mo, W)C for a conventional hard alloy WC and a B1-type solid solution containing Ti and W of grain size of 2μ or less, is prepared. The B1-type solid solution content of the alloy is set at 5W80wt%. The hard region is sintered together with 3W50wt% of at least one of Cr, Mo, W, Fe, Ni and Co to manufacture a hard alloy for cutting. (Ti, W)C like is used as the carbide, while (Ti, W, Mo, Ta, Nb)CN or the like is used as the carbide-nitride.
