Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は熱可塑性樹脂発泡体とフイルムとの
接着方法に関し、発泡体とフイルムとの材質の組
合せによつて熱接着が不可能なものに対しても、
接着剤等を用いず容易に接着できる方法を提供し
ようとしている。
従来、熱可塑性樹脂発泡体とフイルムを接着す
るには、熱接着により発泡体とフイルムとを直接
融着一体化する方法が用いられており、能率的で
接着強度も大きく、接着剤を使用しない為に衛生
的にも優れるなど好適な方法として広く採用され
ている。
ところが、発泡体とフイルムの材質によつて
は、熱接着が困難であつたり全く下可能な場合が
ある。例えば、ポリスチレン発泡体に対してポリ
プロピレンフイルムやポリエチレンフイルムを熱
接着することは従来不可能とされており、これら
熱接着困難な素材の組合せの場合には、接着剤を
介在させたり、熱接着可能な素材との積層フイル
ムとして発泡体に熱接着するなど、非常に面倒で
改善が望まれていた。
そこでこの発明方法においては、上記接着剤等
は全く使用せず、発泡体とフイルムとを直接容易
に接着できる方法を開発したものであり、その方
法は熱可塑性樹脂発泡体にフイルムを重ね、フイ
ルム側から多数のピン状或いは偏平な薄板状をな
す突起状加熱片を押し当て、該加熱片にて発泡体
に加熱片形状に沿う凹部を溶融形成すると同時に
該凹部内にフイルムを押入して上記凹部の内面形
状に沿つた押入部を形成し、該押入部と凹部とが
密着係合することによつて、発泡体とフイルムと
が接合されるようにしたことを特徴としている。
次いでこの発明の実施態様について図を参照し
ながら以下に例示する。
1は発泡ポリスチレン等の熱可塑性樹脂発泡体
であり、2はポリプロピレン等のフイルムであつ
て、両者は通常の熱接着方法では接着が困難な素
材の組合せである。
3が突起状加熱片であり、先端がピン状をなし
ていて、多数の加熱片3が背後の基盤30等に取
付けてあり、多数の加熱片3が同時に発泡体1と
フイルム2の上面に降下できるようにしてあり、
また各加熱片3はヒータ等にて加熱されているも
のとする。
上記のごとき加熱片3を使用して発泡体1とフ
イルム2とを接着するには、先ず発泡体1の上面
にフイルム2を重ねて載置しておく(第1図参
照)。
次いで基盤30の下面に突出する多数の加熱片
30を降下させてフイルム2の上面に押し当て、
フイルム2を通して発泡体1を押圧することによ
つて発泡体1を加熱溶融せしめ、発泡体1に加熱
片3の突起形状に沿う凹部10を陥入形成する。
このとき発泡体1上面のフイルム2が突起状加熱
片30にて上記凹部10内へ押し込まれ、フイル
ム2の当該個所に加熱片3形状即ち凹部10の内
面形状に沿つた押入部20が形成され、この押入
部20と凹部10とが密着係合することによつて
両者間に接合力が生じ、発泡体1とフイルム2が
接着されることになる(第2図参照)。
従つて、発泡体1とフイルム2とは加熱片3に
て加熱されて互いに溶融接着するのではなく、発
泡体1に形成される凹部10とフイルム2に形成
される押入部20とによる一種の強制嵌合力によ
つて互いに接合されるのである。
なお上記実施例のごとく多数の加熱片3を板状
の基盤30に取付け、全体を一斉に上下動させる
方法のほか、多数の加熱片3を回転ローラ31の
外周に取付け、該ローラーを重ね合せた発泡体1
とフイルム2の上面で回転させることにより、多
数の加熱片3を順次フイルム2上に押し当て連続
的に発泡体1とフイルム2を接着していくように
すれば、非常に能率的に作業ができ好適である
(第5図参照)。
また加熱片3はフイルム2および発泡体1に直
角に押し当てるだけでなく、加熱片3を斜め方向
からフイルム2および発泡体1に押し当てるよう
にすれば、フイルム2の押入部20と発泡体1の
凹部10との嵌合力が一層強く抜脱し難くなり、
接着力の向上を図れ好適である(第6図参照)。
加熱片3の形状としても、単なるピン状のもの
のほか、扁平な薄板状のものを使用すれば、第7
図に示す細長い溝状の凹部10あるいは押入部2
0となり、さらに上記薄板状の加熱片3が「く」
の字状に曲がつたものを使用すれば、第8図に示
す「く」の字溝状の凹部10等が形成される。
上記のごとき接着方法を用いるのに好適な発泡
体1とフイルム2の素材としては、互いに熱接着
が困難な素材の組合せが好ましく、例えばポリス
チレン発泡体に対してポリプロピレンフイルム、
ポリエチレンフイルムあるいはポリエステルフイ
ルムなどを接着する場合が挙げられる。
なお加熱片3をフイルム2上面より発泡体1に
押し当てるので、フイルム2の耐熱温度は発泡体
1より高いほうが望ましく、加熱片3の加熱温度
は発泡体1の軟化温度程度にしておくのが好適な
実施であり、例えポリスチレン発泡体の場合100
℃±20゜程度である。
以上のごとく構成されたこの発明方法によれ
ば、加熱片3をフイルム2および発泡体1に押し
当てて形成する発泡体1の凹部10とフイルム2
の押入部20とによる一種の嵌合力によつて両者
を接着するものゆえ、従来の熱接着方法では互に
溶融接着できない材質からなる発泡体1とフイル
ム2との組合せに対しても、容易に接着すること
ができる。しかも接着剤や溶剤を使用するもので
はないから、作業性も良く、食品包装容器等に用
いる際の衛生面でも優れている。
特に作業工程としては、加熱片3の押し当てだ
けで発泡体1とフイルム2が接着できるので、接
着装置などの設備は簡単な構造でよく、コスト的
にも安価になり、作業能率の点でも優れたもので
ある。
さらにフイルム2の押入部20および発泡体1
の凹部10により、表面に独特の立体的模様が形
成されるので外観上も優れた意匠効果を発揮する
ものである。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 1 熱可塑性樹脂発泡体にフイルムを重ね、フイ
    ルム側から多数のピン状或いは偏平な薄板状をな
    す突起状加熱片を押し当て、該加熱片にて発泡体
    に加熱片形状に沿う凹部を溶融形成すると同時に
