Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、電槽と蓋とを熱溶着してなる蓄電池とその製
造法の改良に関するものである。
従来、この種の蓄電池においては、第5図に示す如く電
槽(図示省略)の上端面に対応して蓋Aの下面に溶着代
としての突条Bを設けている。
しかしながら此の構造では成型上並びに組立上、必然的
に生じる電槽隔壁等の反りを考慮して、突条Bの巾を電
槽隔壁等の巾よりも広く設定しているため、蓋の肉厚が
部分的に不均等になってヒケCを生じる欠点があった。
また電槽隔壁等と蓋下面の突条Bとを正しく衝合させる
ための手段として、第6図に示す如くカイトDを設けた
蓋A′も提案されているか、これによっても常に万全で
あるとは言えず、いずれにしても電槽と蓋とを完全に熱
溶着するためには組立上かなりの手数を要する欠点があ
った。
本発明は、上記の欠点を一挙に解消せんとするものであ
り、以下これを一実施例に基づいて説明する。
まず図において1はポリオレフィン系合成樹脂例えばポ
リプロピレン或はポリエチレンで成型された電槽、2・
ろはそれぞれ電槽1の隔壁及び周壁、4は電槽−1と同
等材料からなる蓋、5は従来の突条B(第5図及び第6
図参照)の様な突出した被溶着部を有していない蓋下血
、6は融合して一体となった熱溶着部、7は熱板、8は
電槽1の上端面(換言すれば隔壁2及び周壁ろの上端面
)に対応して熱板7の上面に付設されたリブ、9は蓋4
を吸引して保持するための吸着盤である。なお図中10
は極板群、11・12はそれぞれ注液口及び端子孔、1
6は端子を示す。
次に、図示した本発明蓄電池の製造法について説明する
と、まず常法により極板群10を組成し、これを電槽1
に挿入すると共にセル間を接続した後、第5図に示す如
く熱板7を介在させて電槽1の上端面と蓋下面5とを溶
融する。このとき、第4図に示す如く平坦であった蓋下
面5の被溶着部は、熱板7のリブ8によって溝状に溶融
される。
引続いて熱板7を除去し、電槽1と蓋4とを相互に圧着
すれば、第1図及び第2図に示す如く前記両者を液密に
シールする熱溶着部6の形成された蓄電池が得られる。
なお熱i 1Jフ゛8の巾はろ〜1′Offが適当であ
り、この様なリブ8を有する熱板7を用いて熱溶着に適
した1〜1゜5間の深さまで溶融する場合、蓋4の厚さ
は2H以上とするのが望ましい。
本発明は、叙上の通り電槽1の上端面と被溶着部の突出
していない蓋下面5とを熱溶着するので、極板群10を
挿入した状態において電槽1の隔壁2や周壁ろが反って
いても、電槽1の上端面に対応して溶融される蓋下面5
の溶融中が電槽隔壁等のEx−Qの大きさに見合った寸
法となる様に、熱板リブ8の巾を適宜寸法に設定してお
くことにより、電槽1と蓋4とを確実且つ簡単に溶着す
ることができる。しかも蓋下面5には従来の様な突条B
を全く設けないので、蓋4は実質的に平板状の単純な形
となり、従って肉厚の不均等にょるヒケがなく外観的に
も良好で且つ蓋4のコストも従来品に比し安価となる利
点を有する。
上記の利点を有する本発明は、熱溶着により電槽と蓋と
を接合するタイプの各種蓄電池に適用可能であるが、多
量生産される自動車用浩電池等には取分は好適である。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1)電槽の上端面と被溶着部の突出していない蓋下面と
    を熱溶着してなる蓄電池。 2)電槽の上端面に対応して付設されたリブを上面に有
    する熱板を用いて電槽と蓋とを熱溶着することを特徴と
    する蓄電池の製造法。
