Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は自動車等に用いられるモノブロック型蓄電池
の製造においてポリプロピレン等の合成樹脂製電槽とそ
の蓋とを溶着密封させる方法並にその溶着密封装置に関
する。
従来この種溶着密封方法は合成樹脂製電槽の周側壁と
その内部の中仕切壁の端部と、蓋の周側壁とその内部の
中仕切壁の端部とに熱板の下面及び上面を夫々押し当て
てこれら端部を均一に溶融させ、然る後電槽と蓋とを圧
着させている。
然し乍らこの圧着を急激に行うと周側壁や中仕切壁の端
部の溶融樹脂はその大部分が側方に押し出され、かくて
圧着に寄与する溶融樹脂が少なくなり充分な溶着密封即
ちヒートシール強度が得られない欠点があつた。そこで
この欠点を解消すべく電槽及び蓋の外周にストッパーを
設けて急激な圧着を防止するようにした方法も存するが
、このストッパー及びこれに関連する付属品が必要とな
り、装置として複雑になつて高価となる欠点があつた。
本発明はこのような欠点を解消した溶着密封方法を提
供することを目的とするもので、モノブロック型の合成
樹脂製電槽及び蓋の夫々の周側壁及び中仕切壁の夫々の
対向端部を加熱溶融した後相互を圧着するモノブロック
型蓄電池の溶着密封方法において、電槽及び蓋の少なく
ともいずれか一方の周側壁及び中仕切壁の対向端部を相
互に加熱溶融度に深浅の差を生ずるように加熱溶融した
後に圧着することを特徴とする。更に第2発明によれば
その溶着方法を簡単に実施する装置に係り、モノブロッ
ク型の合成樹脂製電槽の周側壁と中仕切壁の夫々の対向
端部を溶融する下面と、蓋の周’側壁と中仕切壁の夫々
の対向端部を溶融する上面とを有する熱板の上下面の少
くともいずれか一方の面に、中仕切壁の対向端部又は周
側壁の対向端部が少許挿入する凹面を形成して成る。
本発明の1実施例を第1図乃至第4図に従い説・明する
と、1はポリプロピレン等の合成樹脂製の電槽、2は同
じ合成樹脂製の蓋、3は熱板を示し、該熱板3は、電槽
1側の下面3bにおいて該電槽1の内部の中仕切壁lb
の上端部即ち対向端部1dの当る個所に比較的浅い凹面
4を形成し又蓋2側の上面3aは平面状てある。
かくて第1図示の如く上方の蓋2と下方の電槽1との間
に熱板3介入する。そして次に第2図示の如く該熱板3
の上面3aに蓋2の周側壁2aと中仕切壁2bの下端部
即ち対向端部2c,2dを押し当てると共に該熱板3の
下面3bの電槽1の周側壁1aの上端部即ち対向端部1
cを押し当てる。このとき該電槽1の中仕切壁1bの対
向端部1dは熱板3の下面3bの凹面4に臨ませられて
いる。その結果蓋2に関してはその周側壁2aの対向端
部2c及び中仕切壁2bの対向端部2dは均一に溶融さ
れていくが、電槽1に関してはその周側壁1aの対向端
部1cが溶融され初めそれから少し遅れて中仕切壁1b
の対向端部1dが溶融されていく。このようにして所定
時間経過後介入されている熱板3を取り除くと第3図示
の如く蓋2に関しては周側壁2a及び中仕切壁2dの対
向端部2c,2dが点線で示される位置まで均等に溶融
される。これに対し電槽1に関しては周側壁1aの対向
端部1cでは深く又中仕切壁1bの対向端部1dではこ
れより少許浅く即ち加熱溶融後に相互に深浅の段差を付
けた状態に点線で示される夫々の位置まで溶融される。
然る後、第4図示の如く蓋2を電槽1に圧着すると、電
槽1の中仕切壁1bの溶融一部分が浅いためます該中仕
切壁1bと蓋2の中仕切壁2bとが当り、次に電槽1の
周側壁1aと蓋2の周側壁2aとが当つて両者を密着す
る。従つて前記電槽1の中仕切壁1bがストッパーとし
てて作用するため圧着が急激に行われても周側壁1a,
2aの溶融樹脂の少量しか側方に押し出されず、溶融樹
脂の大部分が圧着に寄与され充分なヒートシールが得ら
れる。尚、該熱板3の下面3bに形成した凹面4の深さ
は、電槽1の周側壁1aの対向端部1cの外側に形成さ
れたL字状の段の!高さよりは浅く形成し、前記の周側
壁1aの対向端部1cを溶融する熱板3が、該L字状段
面に到達する前に中仕切壁1bの対向端部1dを所望の
深さその凹面4で溶融し終るようにする1方、熱板3の
上面の周囲面に、蓋2の周側壁2aの対向・端部2cの
外側に下向きに突出の被覆用突壁の突出長さよりも深い
L字状の段部を形成して、該熱板3の中央突出平坦面で
、蓋2の中仕切壁2bの対向端部2dと周側壁2aの対
向端部2cとを所望深さ溶融し終るがその被覆用突壁は
全く或は殆んど溶融しないようにし、熱板3を除去後、
蓋2を電槽1に上記のように加圧溶着密封するとき、そ
の互に熱融着した電槽1の周側壁1aの対向端壁1cと
蓋2の周側壁2aの対向端部2cとの相互溶融部をその
蓋2の被覆用突壁により外から見られない外観体裁の良
い蓄電池を得るようにすることができる。尚、上記実施
例では熱板3の下面3bで中仕切ノ壁1bの対向端部1
dが当る個所に凹面4を形成したが代りに周側壁1aの
対向端部1cが当る個所に前記の凹面4と同様の凹面(
図示しない)を形成し、該周側壁1aを中仕切壁1bよ
り浅く溶融させてこれに圧着時のストッパー作用をさせ
てもよい。
又、第5図示の如く熱板3の上面3aで蓋2の中仕切壁
2bの対向端部2dが当る個所に凹面4を形成し、第6
図示の点線図示の如く蓋2側において中仕切壁2bを周
側壁2aより浅く溶融させてもよい。
更に熱板3の上面3aで周側壁2aの当る個所にL字状
凹面(図示しない)を形成し該周側壁2aについて浅く
溶融させてもよい。又更には熱板3の上面3aと下面3
bの両面において周側壁端部1c,2cの当る個所又は
中仕切壁端部1d,2dの当る個所に凹面4を形成し、
電槽1と蓋2の両周側壁1a,2a又は両中仕切壁1b
,2bについて浅く溶融させてもよい。このように第1
発明による電槽及び蓋の少なくともいずれか一方の周側
壁及び中仕切壁の対向端部を相互に段差をもつように加
熱溶融した後に圧着するようにしたので、その圧着にお
いて浅く溶融された方の壁がストッパーとして作用して
他方の壁に余剰の圧着力が加わることを防止し、かくて
該壁において溶融樹脂が側方に押し流れることが少なく
て溶融樹脂の大部分が圧着に有効に利用し得てヒートシ
ール強度を充分確保でき、更に第2発明によると熱板の
面に凹面を形成するのみで前述した如く壁のヒートシー
ルを充分確保できるので、別個にストッパー等を設ける
ことが不必要となり、かくてその構造が極めて簡単とな
り廉価に得られる等の効果を有する。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 モノブロック型の合成樹脂製電槽及び蓋の夫々の周
    側壁及び中仕切壁の夫々の対向端部を加熱溶融した後相
    互を圧着するモノブロック型蓄電池の溶着密封方法にお
    いて、電槽及び蓋の少くともいずれか一方の周側壁及び
    中仕切壁の対向端部を相互に加熱溶融度に深浅の差を生
    ずるように加熱溶融した後に圧着することを特徴とする
    モノブロック型蓄電池の溶着密封方法。 2 モノブロツク型の合成樹脂製電槽の周側壁と中仕切
    壁の夫々の対向端部を溶融する下面と、蓋の周側壁と中
    仕切壁の夫々の対向端部を溶融する上面とを有する熱板
    の上下面の少くともいずれか一方の面に、中仕切壁の対
    向端部又は周側壁の対向端部が少許挿入する凹面を形成
    して成るモノブロック型蓄電池の溶着密封装置。
