Description
【発明の詳細な説明】
本発明はＴＮ形液晶表示素子において、電界印加に無関
係に常時表示機能を持つ液晶表示素子に関する 従来、常時表示としては素子表面へのインク印刷等によ
っていたが、これらは液晶表示部とのコントラスト差が
大きく、ディスプレイ全体としての表示バランスがくず
れると言う欠点があった。

Claims (1)
- 透明電極を持つ２枚の基板間に液晶をはさみ、基板界面
の配向ｌｌ５Ｉ理により液晶分子を一定方向に平行配向
させ、上記透明電極に電界を印加して表示させたい部分
の液晶分子の配向を変化させることにより表示機能を行
なうＴＮ形の液晶表示素子において、上記配向処理後に
、基板界面の一部にこの配向処理と異なる配向処理を行
なうことにより、その部分だけは電界印加に関係なく常
時表示できるようにしたことを特許とする液晶表示素子
