Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly maintain an inter-substrate spacing even in the end parts of a display region and to decrease the unequal colors in the end parts of the display region and the parts in the outside of the display region by forming electrodess even in the outside of the display region of a liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:Many 1st electrodes 6 and 2nd electrodes 8 are disposed respec tively to the 1st and 2nd substrates of the liquid crystal display elements and the substrates 1, 2 are so disposed that the electrodes 6 and 8 face each other. The periphery thereof is sealed by the sealant of a sealing part 3 and a liquid crystal is held in place in the spacing between the substrates 1 and 2. Dot ma trix display is enabled by the electrodes 6, 8. The electrodes 7a, 7b and electrodes 8a, 9b are respectively formed on the non-display regions 5 in the outside of the display region 4 of the sealing part 3 of this display device. The spacing between the substrates 1 and 2 in the end parts of the display region 4 is exactly maintained, by which the unequal colors in the end parts of the display region 4 and the parts of the nondisplay regions 5 are decreased.
