Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate gap control and to increase the accuracy of the gap, by sealing the two glass plates with a sealing member of a double structure having cuts given to the inner side sealing member to form a liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:Two glass plates 1 and 2 are sealed with a double sealing member composed of sealing members 31 and 32 with cuts 32a given to the inner member 32. Thus a liquid crystal display element is obtained. As a result, the effective sealing width which ontributes to gap control can be increased to obtain a gap having the facilitated control with high accuracy. The liquid crystal is put between both members 31 and 32 through the cuts 32a. Such constitution is very effective to secure an effective sealing width and a reduction of the applied pressure for a large-size liquid crystal display element having >=2mm. sealing width.
