Abstract

PURPOSE:To charge toner always uniformly and to obtain a high density copy image free from fog, by applying voltage between a developer feeding member and an insulating material kept in contact with the surface with an insulating toner layer, then stripping the insulating member, and developing a latent image. CONSTITUTION:An insulating film 4 kept in contact with the surface of toner 3 is charged with a corotron 21 or a conductive roller, and then, the film 4 is stripped off to uniformly charge the toner layer 3. For example, an insulating toner on a developing sleeve 9 around a developing roller containing magnets is trimmed with a trimmer 7 and moved as a thin layer toward a photosensitive drum 10 in the arrow direction. At that time, the toner layer 1 is forcibly charged with a conductive roller 8 coated with the insulating film 4. The roller 8 rotated in the arrow direction is always maintained at a constant level of charge, thus permitting a superior, uniform density image to be always obtained.
