Abstract

PURPOSE: To make image density stable with a simple constitution by applying low frequency alternate biases between a developer carrying body and a latent image holding body to perform development processing by one-component developer and adjusting the alternate biases according to the latent image densities.
CONSTITUTION: If the low-frequency alternating biases from an alternating voltage power source 5 are applied between a conductive sleeve 3 for forming the magnetic brush of one-component toner on the surface and the back electrode 2 of a photosensitive drum 1 to accelerte the transfer of the toner onto the drum 1 at the one phase and return the toner from the drum 1 to the sleeve 3 at the antiphase, then the toner deposited on the non-image part of the drum 1 is removed and the latent images are stably developed by the one-component developer. If the alternating biases are adjusted according to latent image detection potentials, etc. by way of a control circuit 8, then even the latent images of changing potentials may be subjected to the development processing which does not require operations such as adjustment of light quantity, to the desired stable density.
