Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain stable copied images by applying alternating developing bias on a magnetic brush during rubbing, and regulating the alternating developing bias voltage in accordance with the resistance value of the high resistance magnetic toner or the charged potential of the surface of an electrostatic latent image carrying body. CONSTITUTION:A developing device 6 consists of a developing sleeve 7 which is rotatable and drivable in a clockwise direction, a magnet roll 8 which is turnable in a counterclockwise direction within this sleeve 7, and an ear height regulating plate 9. An alternating developing bias power source 10 is connected via a variable resistor 11 to the sleeve 7. The high resistance magnetic toner is formed as a magnetic brush on the outside circumferential surface of the sleeve 7 by the magnetic force of the roll 8, and moves clockwise, thereby rubbing the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 turning counterclockwise and developing the electrostatic latent images. During this developing, alternating developing bias is applied to the magnetic brush, and the voltage thereof is regulated with the resistor 11.
