Abstract

1469159 Developing electrostatic images; automatic control XEROX CORP 14 May 1974 [14 May 1973] 21343/74 Headings G2H and G3N The bias applied to a developer electrode or to magnetic brush rollers in an electro-photographic copier, or alternatively the initial charge applied to the photo-conductive member of the copier before exposure, is varied in response to electrometer readings of the charge level of electrostatic latent images being developed, monitored at a location whereat the potential is greater than that attracting the minimum of toner particles in the formation of a developed image. As a result the total field affecting the transfer of toner particles to the latent images is kept within acceptable limits. The electrometer shares a power source with a development or charging means component, and circuitry linked to the electrometer provides a controlled voltage to the component.
